Who was Yanin Campos? All about TikTok influencer and MasterChef star as she dies at 38 in Mexico crash

Yanin Campos was a TikTok influencer who rose to fame after competing in the reality cooking show MasterChef Mexico. She participated as a contestant in 2018 and continued to post on social media, gaining popularity and recognition. On August 2, 2025, a tragic accident befell Yanin as she was driving home in her hometown of Chihuahua, Mexico. Around 6 a.m., it was reported that she collided with a parked car and was taken to Hospital del Parque.

Yanin succumbed to her injuries and passed away two days after her accident. The actual reason behind the car crash is still under investigation. The police are suspecting it could either be excessive speeding or distracted driving that caused Campos to crash into the parked car.

The news of her death was shared on Facebook by her brother. In a roughly translated version of the text, which was written in Spanish, Raúl Campos said:

"To family and friends: We inform you, with deep sorrow, of the passing of my sister Yanin Campos. The wake will be held at Funeraria Hernández, starting today at 12 noon. For those who wish to say goodbye and accompany us."

Yanin Campos' journey to fame began when she entered the 2018 season of MasterChef Mexico, a reality cooking competition. Although she did not win any title at the end of the season, she did place in sixth position.

Campos' cooking skills were recognized at the time was invited again in 2019 to join another MasterChef competition, known as MasterChef: La Revancha. Here, Yanin had a cook-off against many of the former MasterChef contestants.

Yanin continued to ride the waves of internet popularity by introducing herself to the social media world as a lifestyle influencer. She also posts a few comedy videos on her platforms. At the time of her passing, Yanin had garnered over 100k followers on TikTok and 76k followers on Instagram.

Yanin Campos, a beloved MasterChef Mexico alum and social media influencer, tragically passed away following a car accident in her hometown. Her sudden death has left fans and family mourning, while the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
