Diddy's bail request has been denied by the judge for the fifth time. Last week, his lawyers filed a motion offering his Florida home as collateral for a $50 million bond. However, Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the request, denying him bail once again. Diddy is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, with no possibility of release for now.
A statement released by the judge read:
"Combs fails to satisfy his burden to demonstrate an entitlement to release"
Explaining why the bail was declined, prosecutors said in a statement reported by The Guardian that his:
"extensive history of violence – and his continued attempt to minimize his recent violent conduct – demonstrates his dangerousness and that he is not amendable to supervision”
According to the judge, the music mogul's case included evidence of violence, force, or control connected to acts of prostitution. The new update on his case reportedly won’t affect his sentencing, scheduled in October.
The ruling came days after Combs’ ex, Virginia “Gina” Huynh, asked the judge to grant him bail so he could:
"continue caring for his family and fulfilling his responsibilities while still subject to the Court's supervision."
Her letter also mentioned the reasons behind writing the letter:
"I provide this letter to share my observations about his character and to respectfully request that the Court permit his release on bond while the case proceeds."
What would it take for Diddy to get bail?
According to the statements reported by People, Judge Arun Subramanian, who is overseeing Diddy's case, called him a potential flight risk and a danger to the community. He also asked for evidence to prove:
"that the person is not likely to flee or pose a danger to the safety of any other person or the community if released"
In order to be released and get bail, Sean Combs has to prove that he’s not a flight risk or a danger to others, and that there are 'exceptional reasons':
"where 'unique circumstances' counseled release, including the defendant's advanced 'age and serious medical conditions, which require care that the MDC may not be able to provide."
According to the bail motion, his lawyers argued that Combs is reportedly the only person in the U.S. currently jailed for being charged with getting male sex workers for someone he was in a relationship with.
