The current Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, spoke out about her experience in Hyderabad, where the Miss World 2025 pageant is to be held. Magee landed in India on May 7, but after a few days, she decided to fly back to the UK on May 16 and quit the pageant in the process. According to reports from The Sun, Magee shared:

"Tipping point came when they were allegedly asked to socialise with middle-aged men as a gesture of appreciation for their financial contributions to the event."

Milla Magee also spoke out on her official Instagram account. She posted a video from The Sun Exclusive along with a lengthy caption. Magee wrote:

"After careful reflection, I have made the decision to step away from the @missworld competition. This decision was not made lightly. However, I found that certain aspects of the experience did not align with my personal values. I also witnessed and experienced things that made me deeply uncomfortable."

She continued:

"I believe it is important to speak up when something doesn’t feel right—and just as importantly, to step away when your integrity is at stake. No one should ever feel they have to remain in a situation that goes against their beliefs or compromises their well-being."

She further expressed that she does not feel alone in this situation because many have reached out, sharing their own experiences with the "system" as well. She continues to write:

"I want to thank everyone who has supported me... especially those who have reached out to share their own experiences from the same systems... For anyone reading this who has ever felt the same but couldn’t speak out: know that you are not alone, and YOUR VOICE MATTERS."

She concludes by stating some of the things she holds dear:

"This is not the end of my journey—just a redirection toward spaces that reflect the values I stand for: authenticity, empowerment, and positive change."

How did the Miss World Organisation respond to Milla Magee's claims?

After the news broke of Milla Magee's return to the UK due to the mentioned circumstances, the CEO of Miss World Organisation responded in a statement. She said:

"Earlier this month, Milla Maggie requested to leave the competition due to a reported family emergency involving her mother’s health. We responded to Milla’s situation with compassion and immediately arranged her return to England, placing the well-being of the contestant and her family first."

She proceeds to deny the claims that Miss England 2024 has made by saying:

"Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that certain UK media outlets have published false and defamatory statements, allegedly made by Milla Maggie, regarding her experience in India. These claims are completely unfounded and inconsistent with the reality of her time with us."

More details from Milla Magee's interview with The Sun

Milla Magee has shared a number of upsetting experiences during her short stay in Telangana for the upcoming Miss World 2025 pageant. She told The Sun:

"We had to sit like performing monkeys... There were two girls at each table of six guests. We were expected to sit with them for the whole evening and entertain them as a thank you. I found that unbelievable. I remember thinking, 'This is so wrong'. I didn’t come here to be farmed out for people’s entertainment," Magee recalled being asked to entertain the guests during dinners.

Magee described how she felt at the time, saying that she felt like a "pr*stitue". She continued to explain that it seemed nobody cared about the "purpose" she was supposed to represent as Miss England 2024. She said:

"I once tried to talk about the causes I was supporting, but realised that the men were not interested."

She also called the Miss World Organisation and its system "outdated and stuck in the past."

Although the comment section on Milla Magee's Instagram post has been restricted, a few fans and family members have expressed how proud they are of Magee for speaking out. They congratulated her on her bravery for saying the truth.
