Rapper Ca$h Out, whose real name is John Michael Gibson, his mom, Linda Smith, and his cousin, Tyrone Taylor, were convicted on multiple charges as part of a sex trafficking and racketeering case in Atlanta on Friday, July 18, 2025.
As per reports by Atlanta News First, Gibson was found guilty of 2 counts of sex trafficking, rape, pimping, aggravated sodomy, and broader RICO charges, although acquitted on some related counts. His mother, Linda, was convicted of one count of trafficking and also found guilty under RICO.
Taylor was convicted on most charges, including rape and sodomy, but was cleared of pimping. Prosecutors argue that the rapper used his musical influence to recruit, exploit, and profit from women forced into prostitution.
More about the rapper Ca$h Out's convictions
The rapper Ca$h Out, his mother, and his cousin were all found guilty on RICO charges by the jury on Friday. The Fulton County prosecutors argued that the trio was running a sex trafficking enterprise over several years, and they used their music comapny, Pyrez Music Group LLC, to lure women into prostitution. Nearly sixty witness were called as the case was centered around coercion, and exploitation, as per reports by All Hip Hop.
Among the witnesses that were presented in court during the trial, some described that they were raped, while one of them mentioned that she was not given food unless she engaged in sexual acts. Ca$h Out was arrested back in 2019 when he was caught during a prostitution sting at a Gwinnett County hotel. The prosecutors also showed a video from a prostitution sting and argued that it showed the way the crime was organized.
The witnesses of the case also told the court that the money they earned from performing the sexual acts had to be given to the rapper or his mother. The case overall exposed the organized sex ring, in which women were coerced into prostitution. During the trial, the prosecutors also played a call, which was between Ca$h Out and his mother when he was in jail. In the call, the two were discussing Smith meeting one of the victims and stopping them from speaking with the police.
The initial indictment was issued in April 2022, charging Ca$h Out and multiple co-defendants with rape, sex trafficking, prostitution, and racketeering. The jury selection began on June 2, 2025, in Fulton County, Georgia, and the opening statements were on June 11. The trial went on for about seven weeks before ending in a verdict on July 18, 2025.
The sentencing of the trio is scheduled to be on Monday at 10 a.m.
