Selena Gomez unfollows Hailey Bieber as Rhode mogul reportedly pestered the singer in DMs

Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have unfollowed each other on Instagram reigniting speculations of an ongoing feud between them. According to @PopFactions on X the Lose You To Love Me hitmaker unfollowed the Rhode Beauty mogul because the latter had allegedly nagged constantly in the singer's dms.

For years now, media and fans have flooded the internet with varying theories about the friendship or lack thereof between Gomez and Bieber. Selena Gomez dated Justin Bieber on and off from 2011 to 2018, and Justin Bieber married Hailey Baldwin in the same year.

Following news of the surprise wedding, news outlets reported that Gomez had checked into a treatment facility after suffering an emotional breakdown. Whilst this rumour was never confirmed, some fans of Justin Bieber and Gomez’s relationship have been in a state of denial, constantly trolling Hailey Bieber on the internet.

The verbal attacks led Selena Gomez to follow the latter and speak out in 2023. She wrote on her Instagram Story:

“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.”

Hailey Bieber thanked the Rare Beauty Mogul for her support and shared that she has been discussing with Gomez on how to move past the fan drama:

"I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as she and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and me."

In October 2022 Gomez and Bieber shocked the internet when they took pictures together at the Academy Museum Gala. The duo hugged each other proving they were on good terms.

After Selena Gomez’s public condemnation of the hate comments against Hailey Bieber in March 2023, it was revealed that the duo had started following each other on Instagram. Some months later, Bieber appeared on The Circuit with Emily Chang and expressed her thoughts on fans creating a feud between her and Gomez.

The Rhode Beauty mogul dismissed the drama as a ploy to to breed hatred and enmity:

"I don’t think that this is about me, Hailey Bieber, and Selena Gomez—this is not about this pitting between two women and division between two women."

She added:

"It’s about the vile, disgusting hatred that can come from completely made-up and twisted and perpetuated narratives. That can be really dangerous.”

The duo showed support for each other through the years by liking celebratory posts. Hailey liked Selena and Benny Blanco's engagement post in December 2024. Selena also liked Hailey’s Instagram post in May 2025 where she announced that Rhode Beauty products would be available in Sephora.

While the public figures have repeatedly denied being in a feud their latest move on Instagram have left room for speculation.
