Selena Quintanilla's family gathers in Texas for a private memorial to honor father Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr.

Selena Quintanilla's father, Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., died last month at the age of eighty-six. The news of his death was announced by his son on social media, where he wrote:

"It’s with a heavy heart to let you guys know that my Dad passed away today…"

His son reportedly stated that his father died peacefully in his sleep. For Quintanilla Jr, Selena Quintanilla's family held a private memorial in Corpus Christi, Texas, TMZ reports. The gathering was held on the weekend.

The gathering included live Spanish performances and prayers to remember the late musician, followed by a dinner.

Speaking of Abraham's funeral, his son reportedly said in a now-deleted video, according to KSAT:

"He went like a lot of us would like to go. He passed away in his sleep, and I hope and pray that he didn’t suffer."

The family reportedly chose not to hold a funeral for Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr., honoring his wish to be cremated.

Son of Abraham and brother of Selena Quintanilla, uploaded a photo of Selena and Abraham on social media after his father's death, remembering his late father and sister. The caption read:

"Losing “SELENA” 30 yrs. ago is still a daily struggle for me…But losing my Dad hits differently…I felt safe knowing his love and guidance was always available when I needed it most and now I won’t be able to have that anymore…He was a tough cookie but in this business you have to be!!!"

He added that losing his father has been very hard for him and his mother, who now has to live without her husband and child. He also said his father died on his birthday, making the day a sad memory for him.

Before Christmas, he uploaded a photo of him and his father blessing him. The caption of the post read:

"I promise to keep our family legacy going and your memory alive🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼"

As of now, A.B. hasn't shared any photos from the private gathering or details about it on social media. His sister, Suzette, uploaded an Instagram post featuring a photo from Abraham's memorial service, where she wrote:

"Dad’s Memorial service was beautiful and filled with an immense sense of love ❤️."
