Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat has created a buzz on social media with his latest pledge. In a recent stream, Kai Cenat announced the launch of Mafiathon 3, which he first started in 2023.
During the announcement, Kai revealed that 15% of the subathon’s revenue would be donated to a school project in Nigeria.
“15% of the revenue will be going to a school that I've been building in Africa. Okay.”
Kai Cenat will only redeem his pledge when he reaches one million Twitch subscribers. @FearedBuck on X shared a clip from Cenat’s stream with the caption:
“Kai Cenat announces that 15% of the revenue from Mafiathon 3 will be donated to a school in Nigeria. The goal is to reach one million subscribers on Twitch.”
The post quickly garnered reactions as netizens took to the comment section to express their opinions. Some X users praised Cenat for his generosity. @ednut99 commented.
“That’s huge. Not only pushing for 1M subs but also giving back to the culture. Much respect! Doing what the government can’t do.”
Several netizens didn't appreciate the announcement. Most of them accused Kai of failing to redeem his pledges.
“We all know this play. Make false promises and Try to get everyone’s emotions by telling them to subscribe to your stream for a good cause. Ditch the charity idea immediately you get what you want.”
Another X user @Holusholar wrote.
“Kai Cenat’s dropping 15% of Mafiathon 3 cash for a Nigerian school? Nice PR move, but that 1M subscriber goal smells like a hype chase. Hope he doesn’t flop like that last school promise! Nigeria’s waiting, Kai deliver or get roasted!”
“Bout time ain’t this scammer been lying about building this school for the last year. Bro probably just tapping into the 419 culture in Nigeria. Lie, cheat, scam.”
Other fans didn't agree with Nigeria as his choice of country, arguing he should have focused on America, especially Black communities.
@DonaldPutine argued that the pledge should have been made to America.
“If Americans are putting that money in his pocket, then he needs to be donating to American schools. End of story, no discussion.”
@SliceEra seconded the idea, questioning why Nigeria is the benefiting country.
“Should be donating that 15 percent to the poor black communities in America. What a slap in the face to all of his black American audience!”
