Netizens are reacting after Twitch removed the ban on Nina Lin’s account after a day. Nina’s Twitch account was banned after she was caught up in a 2024 sexual assault controversy involving her, Said, and Zoe Spencer.
Her Twitch account read:
“Temporarily unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.”
@FearedBuck on X shared the news with the caption:
“Nina Lin has been unbanned from Twitch after serving a one-day ban for the SA incident involving Silky’s assistant ‘Said’”
The post quickly garnered several reactions as netizens took to the comments section to express their opinions on the news.
@memewithpari commented:
“That’s insanely lenient for such a serious incident.”
Similar comments echoed the sentiment as netizens complained about the short duration of the ban.
“24 hours for an SA incident some folks get longer bans for playing copyrighted music make it make sense.”
“Wild how fast that happened, just 24 hours and she’s back. The platform really moves different depending on who it is.”
“so SA'ing someone live on stream in front of 10,000+ viewers is a 1 day ban? really? @Twitch.”
More netizens reacted to the news.
“smh, this is clear proof that Twitch only banned them because of the public being mad at them and them trying to protect their PR image.”
“Speed & Sneako was banned for 2 years for bad behavior but Nina who SA ‘Said’ unbanned for 24 hours?”
“Twitch just be banning people for show man, they just protecting their asses to say they took action if they get sued later.”
More details on the Nina Lin and Said controversy
Nina Lin apologized to Said after an old 2024 video began trending on social media. In the clip, Nina holds Said in an uncomfortable position for Zoe Spencer, another streamer, to twerk on, even though Said expressed he didn't want it.
Following the widespread dissemination of the video, Twitch banned Nina’s account. On Saturday, October 25, Nina Lin addressed the situation and apologized to Said.
“I’m old enough to own up to what I did wrong, and during the situation, I genuinely and one hundred per cent thought it was a joke. I just thought he was laughing, so I'm like, we are all laughing and giggling. Yeah, but I see. It is really wrong. It is really, really wrong, and what we did was wrong.”
She took accountability and admitted her actions were wrong.
“He clearly was uncomfortable with it, you know, and he was very hurt by it. But I do wanna let you know I got mad love for Said, no matter what he says about me, I do have love for Said, and he’s been nothing but great.”
