Trace Cyrus's dog Ashland passes away on June 19. Before the tragic news, Trace uploaded an Instagram post hours back requesting fans to pray for his Shiba Inu with the caption:
"Please say a prayer for Ashland! He barely made it through the night. He’s about to be 16 & barely hanging on.. He’s sleeping peacefully on my bed now but I know if he wakes up soon in pain I’m gonna have to take him in today to be put down and I don’t want to do that. PLEASE pray that he crosses over peacefully today at home with me and Nanook! 🙏🏼"
After a few hours, Trace uploaded an Instagram story announcing that his fifteen-year-old Shiba Inu passed away with the statement:
"RIP Ashland. The best friend I’ve ever had. 💔"
In a video, Trace was seen crying as he spoke about Ashland, calling him his savior and the one who stood by him through everything. He shared that Ashland passed away just as he was preparing to be baptized, almost as if the dog had waited for him to change before letting go. Reflecting on the timing, he added:
"There are no coincidences in life."
Cyrus reportedly named his dog Ashland after his band named Ashland HIGH.
Trace Cyrus talks about being baptized
After sharing the news of Ashland’s passing and saying it was not a coincidence, Trace Cyrus posted another Instagram story talking about his plans to get baptized. He additionally added:
"On the day I get baptized, we're going to do a barbeque event, we're going to figure out a location, and anybody who wants to come out in Nashville, we're gonna be baptizing people all day."
Trace also mentioned that even if others don’t intend to get baptized, they’re still welcome to join him and spend time together. He concluded the video by saying he’s not “crazy,” but simply in a good place, feeling happy, healthy, and focused on making a positive change in his life. He additionally mentioned his dog by adding a statement:
"Christ's love is so beautiful. I just lost a dog. I cannot be this positive if I didn't have Christ."
Trace Cyrus has often shared moments with his dogs on Instagram. He has another dog named Nanook, who is believed to be a German Shepherd-Husky mix. After Ashland’s passing, Trace posted a glimpse of Nanook, saying he’s been quiet since the loss and that he’s letting him sleep on the bed for now to offer some comfort.
