As fans celebrated Solo Leveling winning Anime of the Year, some others criticized its win and expressed that they didn’t understand the show's appeal.
Streamer xQc was one of such people. During his May 27, 2025 broadcast, he shared his thoughts on Solo Leveling’s Anime of the Year award win:
"I don't know why everyone hypes up Solo Leveling when it's just bad. The guy is overpowered from the get-go for no reason, and he breaks the rules of the game all the time. It’s just so boring I don’t get it…. I also think that the art is sh*t….lazy.”
Fans react to streamer xQc’s criticism of Solo Leveling’s Anime of the Year Award win
@Dexerto shared a quote from xQc’s May 27, 2025 broadcast where he criticized SL for winning Anime of the Year, and fans were not too impressed with the streamer’s hot take.
@offbeatmarsttv dismissed xQc’s comments as rage bait:
“Lol, that’s the craziest rage bait ever.”
Other X users shared the same sentiment :
“Tell me you are wanting viral pages to post you without telling me you want viral pages to post you,” @rykz_jpeg commented.
“People are complaining about this anime only because it is popular, lmao,” @KrimsonKazuna added.
“He needs to read the Manwa…..solo leveling has BARELY EVEN SCRATCHED THE SURFACE of how good it is,” @GeneralPudgy replied.
Some Netizens, on the other hand, seemed to agree with xQC’s statements:
“Unpopular opinion but kinda agree with him here,” @slotslv expressed.
“He’s right. It’s a lame plot. Good animation, though,” @Astarista__ added.
“Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Solo Levelling S2 for what it is, but let's not pretend it's anything other than "flashy fight go brrr. The story, characters, dialogue and worldbuilding are all a**,” @_jmhj stated.
