Amidst the feud between the businessman Elon Musk and the US president Donald Trump, Musk, recently on June 11, 2025, posted a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), expressing that he regrets some of the posts he made about Trump. In the tweet, he said,
''I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.''
The feud between the two began in early June after Elon stepped down from his position as the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The beef was both personal and political and included publicly slamming each other with insults and threats.
Elon Musk says he regrets some of his posts about Donald Trump
The year 2024 saw a great bond between Elon and Trump. Elon was a major supporter of Trump. He had donated millions, endorsed him, and even joined his party as a DOGE.
However, things changed quickly in 2025. On May 30, 2025, Elon stepped down from his position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), following the end of his 130-day tenure as a special government employee.
The fallout between the two began in early June when Elon publicly slammed Trump’s spending plan, calling the "One Big Beautiful Bill" a "disgusting abomination," as per People. This is what he said in the post:
I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it."
He continued in another post:
''It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden America citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt.''
On June 5, Elon posted on X, saying:
''Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.''
Following these tweets from Musk, Trump fired back on Truth Social; he called Elon 'crazy.' He also threatened him with revoking the government contracts and vowed no reconciliation. This was then followed by Elon hinting at Trump's involvement in the government delaying the release of the Epstein Files.
He also posted about how Trump should be removed from office and J.D. Vance should take his place. These posts were later deleted by him. After the tense showdown on Wednesday, Musk deleted the inflammatory posts he made and admitted that he had gone too far with his posts on Trump last week.
Since the spat between the two, Tesla lost $152 billion in market capitalization, as per NBC News; however, the stock price has recovered a bit of that loss.
