Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay was found murdered with her two children and husband in Guadalajara last Friday. The rising TikTok influencer had a 13-year-old son named Gael Santiago and a seven-year-old daughter named Regina. Garibay and her entire family were found inside a gray Ford Ranger, and their bodies were given to their families after identification.
Esmeralda has been growing in terms of her social media popularity, posting lifestyle and luxury-related content. The ongoing investigation has concluded that Garibay's online presence is not the motive for the murder. On the other hand, her husband, Roberto Carlos Gil Licea, is believed to be the target because of his vehicle trading business and agricultural activities.
The couple and their children recently moved from their hometown in Michoacán to Guadalajara a few months ago. The main motive of this move was more job opportunities. However, according to Infobae, it seems like Roberto caught the eye of Mexico's infamous cartels.
Where were Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay's family murdered?
An investigation is currently going on regarding the death of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay's family. As mentioned, all four of their bodies were found inside the grey Ford Ranger truck. However, there seems to be more to the story.
The investigators tracked down the truck's movement and saw that it arrived at a mechanic's workshop. There were bloodstains in the shop that made investigators strongly believe that the family of four had been shot in that area.
Forensic data is yet to be released. However, a prosecutor named Alfonso Gutiérrez Santillán said:
"The scene was processed, and investigators found multiple pieces of evidence suggesting the family was killed there... While the forensic results are not yet in, ballistic and blood evidence almost certainly confirm they were murdered at that location."

After the bloodstains were found in the mechanic's workshop, two individuals who worked there were detained for questioning by the police. They are identified as Héctor Manuel Valdivia Martínez and another person with the nickname "El Chino," which translates to "The Chinese".
As Héctor was leaving the Prosecutor's Office, he was taken along with two of his relatives. They have been recognized as José Manuel Arredondo Roldán and Gary Omar Silva González. At the moment, all three men are missing. On the other hand, El Chino had managed to escape.
Local reporters have claimed that the abduction of Valdivia is directly connected to the murder of TikTok influencer Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay.
Another prosecutor named Blanca Trujillo said:
"Investigations show the perpetrators had been watching the exit for over two hours... It wasn't an immediate attack – they waited until the group had moved a few metres before carrying out the abduction."
The killing of Esmeralda Ferrer Garibay and her family has shaken Guadalajara. Investigators point toward a possible cartel involvement linked to her husband's business. Evidence (bloodstains) suggests the family was murdered at a mechanic's workshop before being placed in their truck.
