Key highlights of Diddy's day 7 trial
Day 7 of the trial was on Tuesday, and it saw Diddy's former assistant, David James, take the stand. David, on Monday, had spoken about how Cassie was stuck as Diddy controlled her life, including her career and finances.
On Tuesday, David told the court about Diddy's drug use, stocking hotel rooms for him, and he also told the court about being subjected to lie detector tests, as per CNN.
The next person who took the stand was Cassie's mother, Regina Ventura. She told the court that Cassie began dating rapper Kid Cudi in 2011. Combs was angry and had threatened to release Cassie's explicit videos if he was not paid $20,000. Cassie's parents then had to take a home equity loan to pay Diddy. They then transferred the money to him, however, Diddy returned the money a few days later without any explanation, as per The Guardian.
Sharay Hayes, the male escort, took the stand, and he was cross-examined by the defense. He told the court that he did not sense any discomfort from Cassie and also said that while he was with Cassie and Combs, he did not witness any violence or filming. He also told the court that he never used drugs with Cassie or Diddy, although they did offer him sometimes. He said that he never found Diddy intoxicated, and the last time he saw them was in 2016, as per CNN.
Gerard Gannon, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations, also took the stand. He told the court that he was involved in the March 2024 raid at Diddy's Miami beach house. The jury then saw pictures of the items found during the raid in Diddy's bedroom. They had found sex toys, baby oil, high heels, upper and lower receivers of AR-15s, and lingerie, as per the Washington Post.
Diddy has been indicted on five criminal counts of racketeering, transportation for prostitution, and sex trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment.
