The television host and author Jeanine Pirro was recently confirmed as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. The U.S. Senate confirmed her, and the Senate votes occurred on August 2–3, 2025, with a 50‑45 party-line vote approving her nomination, according to AP News.

Before getting selected as the U.S. Attorney for D.C, she co-hosted the political talk show The Five on the Fox News Channel until May 2025. Other than this, she also hosted other shows, including Justice with Judge Jeanine.

Previously, she served as the Assistant District Attorney in Westchester County in 1975 and went on to become the first female to serve as a judge in Westchester County Court, and as per Celebrity Net Worth, she has a net worth of $14 million.

The news of Jeanine being elected as the U.S. Attorney for DC was confirmed by the Senate Cloakroom, as they took it to their social media to make the announcement. They wrote:

''Confirmed, 50-45: Confirmation of Executive Calendar #322 Jeanine Pirro to be United States Attorney for the District of Columbia for the term of four years.''

Pirro has previously served as a judge, prosecutor, and politician in the state of New York. Other than her roles in politics and television, she has also authored quite a few books, including a 2003 crime novel, To Punish and Protect: A DA's Fight Against a System That Coddles Criminals, and a following 2004 second crime novel, To Punish and Protect: Against a System That Coddles Criminals.

Her other books include the 2018 Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy and the 2019 Radicals, Resistance, and Revenge: The Left's Plot to Remake America. Pirro graduated from Notre Dame High School in Elmira, New York, and while she was still in high school, she interned at the Chemung County District Attorney’s office.

She then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University at Buffalo. In 1975, she received her Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Albany Law School, part of Union University.

As per reports, Pirro was not President Trump’s first choice for the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia. Ed Martin Jr. was originally appointed as interim U.S. Attorney earlier this year, and Trump nominated him for the permanent position. Martin, however, faced opposition, and in May, Trump publicly withdrew Martin’s nomination and named Jeanine Pirro as the interim replacement.
