Billie Eilish's award speech at the WSJ received praise from several attendees; however, not everyone seemed too comfortable with what she said. According to a report from People magazine, Mark Zuckerberg, who was in attendance to support his wife, Priscilla Chan, as she was recognized as a 2025 WSJ Magazine Innovator, wasn't impressed by the speech.

During her acceptance speech for the Music Innovator Award at the WSJ. Magazine Innovator Awards on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the Birds of a Feather hitmaker spoke about the importance of giving and empathy.

“We’re in a time right now where the world is really, really bad and really dark and people need empathy and help more than, kind of, ever, especially in our country. I’d say if you have money, it would be great to use it for good things, maybe give it to some people that need it.”

She playfully called out the billionaires at the event, urging them to donate their money.

“Love you all, but there’s a few people in here that have a lot more money than me. If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but yeah, give your money away, shorties.”

Some attendees were impressed by the 23-year-old's speech; however, an eyewitness revealed to People magazine that Mark Zuckerberg, the third richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $257 billion, didn't join the rest of the audience to applaud Billie.
