Todd Chrisley and his wife, Julie Chrisley, former stars of the popular American reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best, were arrested in 2022 on charges of bank fraud and tax evasion. The couple was jointly sentenced to nineteen years in prison. However, three years after their conviction, the couple was released on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, following a pardon from U.S. President Donald Trump.
Todd Chrisley, who had a successful career in real estate before venturing into television in 2014, portrayed himself as a self-made millionaire. His reality USA Network series ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ followed his extravagant lifestyle and showcased his family’s lavish way of living. However, the Chrisleys’ troubles began in 2019 when they were indicted on tax evasion, conspiracy to defraud banks, and other charges.
Following their conviction, Todd and Julie were ordered to pay the sum of $17 million in restitution to the banks they duped. Todd Chrisley’s current net worth is reported to be -$18 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Savannah Chrisley, the daughter of Todd Chrisley, appealed to President Trump’s administration in 2024 for a pardon for her parents, who received a combined prison sentence of 19 years in 2022.
According to the 27-year-old Chrisley, she was already in a place where she had lost hope when she received a phone call from the President of the United States informing her of her parents' pardon. According to Savannah, the “king and loving” president is the reason why the family is back together.
Savannah Chrisley announced her parents' release in a video posted on her official Instagram account on Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
“The president called me personally as I was walking into Sam's Club and notified me that he was signing paper pardon paperwork for both of my parents. So both my parents are coming home tonight or tomorrow (Tuesday or Wednesday), and I still don't believe it's real. I'm freaking out -- the fact that the president called me,” she said in the video.
She continued, thanking the President for his full, unconditional pardon.
“I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way, all of my lawyers, the people who put in countless hours and effort and love for my family to make sure that my parents got home. My parents get to start their lives over… President Trump didn't just commute their sentences; he gave them a full, unconditional pardon. So for that, I am forever grateful.”
Following his Presidential pardon, Todd Chrisley held a press conference in which he spoke about his time in prison and the corruption in the American Prison System. The 57-year-old Georgia-born TV personality also stressed his innocence.
“Even though this pardon has happened, I still was convicted for something i didn't do. So I understand the shame that surrounds it; I refuse to feed into that because shame is like a cancer that just spreads, and I have no shame,” Todd Chrisley said in his public comments since his prison release.
In the press conference, Todd also spoke about the injustice he experienced while incarcerated. He alleged that even in prison, there were issues of racism and inequality among inmates.
“I have met some wonderful men. I have listened to some horrific stories about things that have gone on in our system. I will continue to fight for all of the guys that I dealt with and that I was blessed to be with at FPC Pensacola. I will continue to expose the injustices that go on there and throughout the Bureau of Prisons,” Todd said.
“Being in the prison system, anyone that says that it's a fair shake — it's not. Because I dealt with young African-American males in the prison that I was in that were not treated the same. They were denied programming. They were denied access to certain things. I was not denied that, but we know why I wasn't denied that. And so I think that that is a much bigger picture that we all as a society as a whole need to look at: that we are one,” the patriarch of the Chrisley family said in the press conference held on Friday, May 30, 2025.
Todd also suggested during the press conference that he and his wife would appear on television in a new reality show, though he didn't specify which show or when it would happen.
Todd Chrisley married Julie Hughes Chrisley in 1996. Together, they have three children: Savannah, Chase, and Grayson.
