A new drama involving the newspaper house, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), and the US president, Donald Trump, has begun. It all started when WSJ published a report titled 'Jeffrey Epstein’s Friends Sent Him Bawdy Letters for a 50th Birthday Album. One Was From Donald Trump' on Thursday July 17, 2025.
This explosive report uncovered a birthday album for Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th birthday, and it allegedly included a "bawdy" letter from Trump. Trump, however, denied writing or drawing the letter and called the report a 'fake Wall Street Journal story.'
He has further threatened to sue the newspaper house for defamation.
More about the explosive WSJ report and Trump's response to it
As per the report by the WSJ published on Thursday, it uncovered a 2003 birthday album compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell for Jeffrey Epstein’s 50th birthday. This also included a letter, which had a hand-drawn sketch of a naked woman in black marker, with the outline featuring a 'Donald' signature placed below the waist, resembling pubic hair.
The letter was a conversation between Donald and Epstein. This is what the conversation was:
Voice Over: There must be more to life than having everything.
Donald: Yes, there is, but I won’t tell you what it is.
Jeffrey: Nor will I, since I also know what it is.
Donald: We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.
Jeffrey: Yes, we do, come to think of it.
Donald: Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?
Jeffrey: As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.
Trump: A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.
According to Politico, the journal claims that the Department of Justice reviewed this album and its contents as part of the broader Epstein investigation. As per the News, this is what Donald told the publication before the report was published:
''This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. It’s not my language. It’s not my words. I’m going to sue The Wall Street Journal, just like I sued everyone else.''
After the report was published by the news house, Trump took to Truth Social and said:
''Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein, I have asked Attorney-General Pam Bondi to produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval. This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!''
For context, Donald and Epstein moved in similar elite circles in the 1990s and early 2000s. However, when Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal charges of sex trafficking, Donald distanced himself publicly and denied any close or inappropriate association with Epstein. The recent Wall Street Journal report is the latest twist in the long, controversial history between Donald and Jeffrey Epstein.
