Australian television host Peter Everett has found himself at the center of sexual misconduct claims after allegedly touching a sixteen-year-old boy inappropriately, without his permission. According to News.com.au, he was arrested at his Toukley home on the NSW Central Coast.

The statement by the police reportedly stated:

"Following extensive inquiries, police arrested a 66-year-old man at a home at Toukley. The man was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with sexually touch another person without consent."

Peter is best known for hosting Ready Steady Cook, a role he took on in 2006. He remained with the show for five years until 2011, when he was replaced by comedian and actor Colin Lane.

He has denied the charges during his appearance at Parramatta Local Court in Sydney.


Where did Peter Everett work before joining Ready Steady Cook?

Before landing the position of the host at Ready Steady Cook, Peter reportedly worked at the show Changing Rooms, aired on Nine Network, where he worked as an interior designer. After Changing Rooms, he appeared as a host on the Australian home renovation television series Renovation Rescue and Amazing Homes.

A year before hosting Ready Steady Cook, which aired on Network Ten, Peter Everett participated in an Australian celebrity reality television program titled Skating on Thin Ice. In 2011, he was fired from Ready Steady Cook over a phone call. In a statement reported by DailyMail, he said:

"[Callaghan] was saying that I think I'm greater than the show. I think it meant I thought I was so indispensable and that they couldn't do the show without me."

Later, he appeared on Dating Naked and The Celebrity Apprentice Australia. According to IMDb, his last appearance was on Adam & Poh's Great Australian Bites, which aired in 2023.

In 2024, the Ready Steady Show chose chef Miguel Maestre as their new host. In a statement to New Idea Magazine, Peter said:

"I was like a three-year-old for a couple of days, who constantly asks, 'Why, why, why?' They didn't approach me for some reason. Who knows why? It's a shame"

Peter Everett continued:

"I've had a few messages from fans saying we're not going to watch this show if you're not doing it. I like the fact that I'm remembered fondly"

Peter Everett is scheduled to attend his next court hearing in September at Wyong Local Court, where the case will continue. His Instagram account is currently set to private.
