Who is Alex Soros? Billionaire’s son is set to tie knot with Hillary Clinton’s former aide Huma Abedin

Alex Soros, the heir apparent to the Soros empire, and Huma Abedin are set to get hitched today. After dating for more than a year, the couple has decided to get married in the plush settings of Southampton, where a good number of political figures, philanthropists, and world leaders are likely to turn up at the wedding.

At the time of writing, the couple has already kicked off the wedding festivities with a rehearsal dinner in Shelter Island, New York. Huma Abedin is a close former aide to Hilary Clinton, who is also set to attend the wedding on June 14, 2025, in the Hamptons. The couple had previously announced their engagement on social media last year, after Alex reportedly proposed to Huma in Italy.

Alex Soros - the man behind the headlines

Alex Soros is the son of billionaire investor George Soros and Susan Weber Soros, and he officially assumed control of the vast Soros empire two years ago. This also includes the Open Society Foundations, or OSF, and he has established himself as a prominent figure in philanthropy and the business world in the past few years. He’s also a member of the investment committee at Soros Fund Management.

Alex Soros's educational background includes a PhD in History, which he obtained at UC Berkeley in 2018. Besides this, he also established the Alexander Soros Foundation in 2011, which was concerned with social justice and human rights.

As the son of George Soros, Alex was born into a world of privilege. Thus, he got exposed to the unavoidable media attention, and for much of his early life, he was branded with the image of a playboy. The image persisted with him as late as 2016, as pictures of him partying as a playboy continued to circulate online.

However, through dedication, resilience, and a commitment to philanthropy, Alex Soros has managed to write a new chapter to this story, becoming a key part of his father's empire, a serious philanthropist and a man standing on the edge of a new chapter in his personal life after his engagement to Huma Abedin.

The 2023 sudden appointment of Alex Soros as the heir to the Soros dynasty thrust him into the spotlight. His half-brother (Jonathan) had been in the lead running to be the next at the post, but it is said he had a fall-out with George on some of the managerial decisions he was making.

As a result, Alex is now one of the most influential philanthropists in the world, overseeing an organization with an endowment of approximately $25 billion, according to the Wall Street Journal. And that too, at the age of 38. Huma Abedin, on the other hand, has built a reputation for herself capable political operator and a durable figure in the political sphere with more than twenty years of experience in national politics. She was previously married to Anthony Weiner, with whom she parted ways in 2017.
