Who is Jeanine Pirro? Former Fox News host confirmed for D.C. U.S. Attorney post

Jeanine Pirro, the co-host of the Fox News show The Five, has been officially approved to become the top federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C, according to AP News.

Other than being a television host, Pirro is also an author and a former judge, prosecutor, and politician in the state of New York. Books that Pirro has authored include the 2018 book Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy and the 2020 book Don't Lie to Me: and Stop Trying to Steal Our Freedom.

Jeanine is popularly known for hosting television shows, which include Judge Jeanine Pirro on The CW, Justice with Judge Jeanine on Fox News Channel, and making frequent appearances on The Today Show.

Born and raised in Elmira, New York, Pirro graduated with a degree in law from Albany Law School in 1975, where she also worked as an editor for the law review publication. In 1990, Jeanine Pirro was elected as a judge in Westchester County, New York. Then, in 1993, she became the district attorney and was recognized for working on cases involving domestic violence and crimes against older people. In 1997, she was named among the 50 Most Beautiful People by People magazine.

As per Fox News, this is what Donald Trump said about nominating her:

''Jeanine is incredibly well-qualified for this position and is considered one of the Top District Attorneys in the History of the State of New York. She is in a class by herself.''

She was named in a February 2021 lawsuit by a company called Smartmatic. She was also named in a similar lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems. Both companies said that false things were said on Fox News about their voting machines.

Pirro was married to Albert Pirro, a lawyer and businessman, in 1975; however, they later separated in the 2000s, and their divorce was finalized in 2013. Pirro has two children with her former husband.

As per reports, Pirro was chosen for the post after President Donald Trump decided not to go forward with his original pick, Ed Martin Jr.
