Social media influencer Ju Isen is opening up about undergoing facial surgeries after a dog bite, estimated to cost over $40,000. Talking about the incident, Isen told Need to Know:

"I went almost six months without being able to smell anything. The trauma has been emotional and physical."

The traumatic event occurred when Isen tried to pet an Akita Inu at a New Year’s Eve party in 2023. After the dog bit her, she was rushed to a medical facility in Mexico City, where doctors performed a two-hour operation in order to fix the affected area.

Isen is a former model for the Playboy brand who has appeared in many famous magazines, including Glamour Bulgaria. Born in Brazil, she caught public attention in 2015 with a topless protest targeting Dilma Rousseff’s leadership. Currently, the forty-year-old model has over 2.5 million followers on Instagram.

What treatments is Ju Isen undergoing currently?

Recalling the bite incident, she told Need to Know:

"After trying to pet the dog, it suddenly lunged at me and bit my face. I was in shock and feared I could have lost part of my face during the attack."

The influencer shared that she still has a strong bond with her dog Francisco, as her pet dog wasn’t present during the incident.

After undergoing tests, Isen shared that the bite did not result in rabies. However, doctors found a harmful bacterial infection. The surgery also involved removing bacteria that had entered through the bite.

Ju Isen is currently receiving treatment in São Paulo at the Martelli Care Clinic, in the care of dermatologist Dr. Priscilla Martelli. According to Need To Know, the treatment includes:

"fractional laser therapy, bio-stimulator applications, and regenerative ingredients such as salmon semen extract, with the goal of softening scars, restoring volume, and rebalancing the structure of the face."

Talking about the incident on her Instagram stories, she said:

"Whenever I see a dog, I want to get closer, but this taught me that I have to be careful. I will never get close to a dog I don't know again."

While the surgery helped repair her face, Ju Isen shared that she still didn’t feel like her old self afterwards. The model, who has previously posed for Playboy, has been actively sharing updates about her treatment journey on social media.

Earlier this year, she also opened up to Need to Know about using anti-aging treatments, including Japanese face creams, vitamin and antioxidant infusion therapy, and facial harmonisation and fillers.
