Turning Point USA (TPUSA) already had an event lined up in Logan, which is two hours north of Utah Valley University. Charlie Kirk was supposed to speak at Utah State University (USA), but was assassinated a few weeks ago at a similar event. Turning Point USA will now be headlined by a few well-known conservative figures, including Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Glenn Beck.
As for the panel on Tuesday, where Charlie was supposed to speak, it has been replaced by podcaster Alex Clark, as well as a few Latter-day Saint politicians. These include Senator Mike Lee, Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, Utah's former Rep. Jason Chaffetz, and Utah's Governor, Spencer Cox.
However, at the last minute, Senator Mike Lee had to cancel because he needed to stay in Washington to join in the Senate votes. Up to 5,500 people attended the TPUSA event held on Tuesday at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum arena at USU.
Was there a bomb at the TPUSA event in Logan, Utah?
Right before the TPUSA event started on Tuesday, law enforcement was called to the Utah State University campus because of a "suspicious device". Many speculated that the mysterious package was a bomb.
It was seen on the outside of the Old Main building on campus. After careful investigation, the bomb squad declared that it was a "non-explosive," but it was detonated by them.
After the "non-explosive" was removed, USU released a statement ensuring the students are safe. It reads:
"A suspicious device was found near the exterior of Old Main. University and local law enforcement were dispatched to the scene. A device was located and deemed to be a nonexplosive device. Out of an abundance of caution, the bomb squad detonated the suspicious device. Old Main building is now clear and safe. All scheduled events may resume as normal."
No one was hurt during this incident.
The TPUSA event in Logan drew thousands despite the absence of Charlie Kirk and last-minute lineup changes. Before the event started, a suspicious package near the Old Main building briefly raised alarms but was safely neutralized by the bomb squad. The university officials also reassured students and attendees that the campus was secure and events could continue as planned.
