Charlie Kirk’s pastor, Rob McCoy, appeared on The Big Weekend Show to share his thoughts on the Turning Point USA founder. Amidst the talks, McCoy also revealed that Charlie once told him that he doesn't speak in churches. On being asked why by Rob, Charlie revealed:

"Because they think I'm too political."

Rob McCoy went on to say that he told Charlie:

"Politics is the highest form of community. It combines morality with sociability. If God didn't want us in politics, he wouldn't have invented marriage. You have to have rules to live with. If you're going to love your neighbor as yourself, then you're going to engage in the public square for the sake of their families."

Rob McCoy officially officiated Erika and Charlie's wedding that took place in 2021. He is also a co-chair of Turning Point USA Faith. McCoy is a pastor at Godspeak Calvary Chapel, host of the Faith Forward Show, and a former mayor of Thousand Oaks, California.

Rob McCoy talks about Erika Kirk

During The Big Weekend Show, Rob McCoy also talked about Erika, Charlie Kirk's wife, by saying:

"There's no explanation for Erika having such strength right now other than a supernatural blessing from God. She has been a lioness in the midst of this. You know, a lot of your viewers don't know Jim Elliot, but he was martyred in the 20th century at the start of the largest mission movement in the world. His widow, Elisabeth Elliot, ended up becoming a fixture."

Continuing his statement, he said:

"Erika Kirk is the modern Elisabeth Elliot today. She's going to take this nation to a place of faith and understand the most important principle. When we come to Christ, we realize the multitude of our sins, and his blood covered us from past, present, and future. And Erika understood that, so she dug deep and the word she said she meant."

During his tribute post to Charlie Kirk on Instagram on September 11, Rob McCoy remembered him as a man who faced every threat with courage and lived for life, expressing his heartbreak for Charlie’s wife, Erika, and their two children. In the ending statement, McCoy wrote:

"He called me his pastor but I prefer to be known as his friend and biggest fan."

Charlie Kirk's memorial was held on September 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. The event was also attended by Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
