Ecuadorian singer Paulina Tamayo has passed away at the age of 60. The news was announced on her official Instagram account with the statement:
"The Grande of Ecuador, a legend of our music, leaves us a legacy that will live on forever. Her voice remains in the heart of an entire nation. Thank you for everything, eternal Paulina, forever La Grande del Ecuador."
The cause of her death has not been disclosed as of now.
Paulina de las Mercedes Tamayo Cevallos, popularly known as Paulina Tamayo, was also famous with the title of La Grande del Ecuador. She began singing at a very early age. Soon after, she joined film actor Ernesto Albán's company. As a child, Paulina Tamayo performed across Latin America, sharing Ecuador’s music with many. She also did collaborations with famous artists, including Rocio Durcal and Juan Gabriel.

According to her son’s statement, the funeral for Paulina, "La Grande del Ecuador," will be held at the National Theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture from October 21 until October 22.
He also remembered his mother following her death with the caption:
"The love of my life, my role model, my inspiration and my greatest pride. Your voice, your art and your light will remain forever in the history of Ecuador, but above all, in the hearts of those who had the privilege of loving you. Thank you for so much, for your endless surrender, for your strength and for teaching me that life is sung with the soul."
