Who was Scott Sorry? All about The Wildhearts bassist as he dies on his 47th birthday

Scott Sorry was an American singer and songwriter who was known for playing with The Wildhearts, Amen, Sorry and the Sinatras, and Brides of Destruction. Sorry, whose real name is Gerard Engelter, passed away on his 47th birthday on October 30.

His death was announced on his official Instagram page with a photo of Scott. It revealed Scott's cause of death and his long battle with the disease. The caption that reads:

"We're heartbroken to share that Scott Sorry has passed away after a long and incredibly brave fight with brain cancer. Scott passed away on his 47th birthday, October 30th, 2025. After being diagnosed with Glioblastoma back in 2018, Scott refused to let it define him. He outlived every Doctors expectation, turning months into years, and even made it back to the UK in 2022 for a tour — something that meant the world to him."

They continued:

"He was so grateful to be able to play again, to see so many familiar faces and to personally thank so many of you that had supported him through it all. We're devastated beyond words, but there's comfort in knowing he's finally free from pain. His strength, humour, and heart will stay with us forever."

Who did Scott Sorry play for?

Scott Sorry began his music career by playing for the punk rock band, Amen. He joined them in 2003, during their Join or Die Tour. He played with them for two years before he quit.

After Amen, Scott decided to play with the hard rock supergroup, Brides of Destruction. After their former bassist, Nikki Sixx, left, Sorry was announced as the new bassist, along with Ginger Wildheart, in 2005.

However, Scott did not play with Brides of Destruction for too long. He decided to join an English rock band called The Wildhearts the following year. Sorry was particularly known for his time with The Wildhearts. He played with the for three years, from 2006 to 2009, and then rejoined them in 2014 for their UK tour.

After leaving The Wildhearts, Sorry met Danny Sinatra and began writing new songs with him following the split of Trashlight Vision. They formed a new band called Sorry and The Sinatras, and were active from 2007 to 2013.

Scott Sorry decided to pursue his solo career after his last split from Sorry and the Sinatras. Sorry began his solo career a decade ago and managed to release one solo studio album called When We Were Kings in 2016.


Scott Sorry's passing is a heartbreaking loss for the rock community. Despite his long battle with brain cancer, he continued to follow his passion and connect with fans. Sorry was a part of many bands before he began his solo career. He will be remembered for his contribution to the rock community.
