Michael and Susan Dell have officially announced one of the largest private donations ever for American children. The couple committed $6.25 billion to help launch and support the federal Trump Accounts. It is a new investment initiative under POTUS Donald Trump's tax and spending package, which is known as the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act."

The initiative is expected to begin rolling out in 2026. It will come with regulated and tax-deferred investment accounts for U.S. citizens aged 18 and under. The Treasury Department will deposit $1,000 for children born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028.

However, Susan Dell and her husband Michael's pledge is intended to support children born before that window closes, for those children aged ten and under. According to reports, their contribution will fund $250 deposits into at least 25 million accounts. It will serve children in zip codes with a median household income of $150,000 or less.

Susan Dell's husband, Michael, mentioned in an official statement:

"We feel super excited to be able to make a difference in millions of children's futures and create opportunity, hope and prosperity for them. If you think about the power of compounding and what these accounts are likely to become over 10, 20, 30 years, that is super significant."

Susan Dell said:

"When we heard about this idea, we were thrilled, because this allows us to reach such a huge number of children with this program. Investing in children and their future is really investing in all of our futures. Children are the future. So we could not be more excited about this program."

Michael Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, which is one of the world's largest tech and computing companies. He started the company in 1984. He used to build computers from his college dorm room before eventually turning the business into a global hardware and infrastructure enterprise.

As of 2025, Bloomberg estimates his wealth at $148 billion. In public comments on the donation, Dell stated:

"I had an opportunity to explain it to the president earlier this year. We believe that the smartest investment we can make is the one that we make in children. We have also talked with a number of other philanthropists, and we feel confident there will be other significant gifts that get announced."

Notably, Dell shared that he had spoken about the initiative with the Trump administration earlier in the year, after earlier discussions during the Biden administration did not progress.

The Michael & Susan Dell Foundation (MSDF) was founded in 1999. To date, the foundation has reported more than $2.9 billion in philanthropic spending before this new pledge to the Trump Accounts.
