Who was Tijana Radonjic? 19-year-old model dies after unbuckling harness midair during parasailing

Tijana Radonjic, a 19-year-old model, tragically died as she unbuckled her harness in panic while parasailing in Montenegro on May 28, 2025, as per the New York Post. She was in Budva, Montenegro, to promote a parasailing company that had hired her to shoot the parasailing experience.

The incident turned out to be tragic when Tijana frantically unbuckled her harness midair, which led her to fall from a height of 50 meters. Her body was then removed from the water, taken to the marina, where the emergency services confirmed her death, as per The Sun. Radonjic was a model from Novi Sad, Serbia.

The model, Tijana Radonjic, dies during parasailing

Tijana Radonjic was holidaying at Budva, southwest of Podgorica, when she was approached by a representative of a parasailing company to shoot a video of her parasailing experience, to be used to promote the brand's business. She was also offered a free flight by the representative.

For the shoot, she was to wear a bikini and fly over the Budva River while the boat towed her parasail. In the video footage that is circulated on social media, Tijana appeared to be calm and cheerful. However, as the parasail reached 150 feet above the Adriatic Sea, she panicked. She began pulling at the life jacket and safety harness, and also unfastened her waistbelt, stumbled upside down, which then led to her tragic fall.

Witnesses claim that they heard her scream 'Put me down' moments before she fell. Mirko Krdzic, the owner of the parasailing company, made a statement regarding the incident, as per the New York Post. He said,

''She was cheerful and in a good mood before the flight. She showed no fear of heights or flying. Before we set off, she waved to her friends on the beach and they waved back. Everything seemed fine. We don't know why she unbuckled her seat belt and harness and jumped out."

He continued,

''I guess she didn't do it consciously, but in a moment of uncontrollable fear. Maybe she wasn’t aware of the height she was flying at. She underwent training after which the tragedy followed. Technical inspections of all the equipment are underway and the results of the autopsy are awaited.''

Authorities are investigating what might have caused her to unbuckle her belt and lifejacket. While some believe she did it because she was panicking, others say that it was a su*cide attempt, while her family says she would not take her own life.

As the news got out on social media, tributes poured in from Tijana's family and friends. The police investigation into the case is still ongoing.
