Tika the Iggy, the pet dog of Thomas Shapiro, died at the age of fourteen. The famous dog influencer was loved by the internet and had over 1.4 million followers on Instagram. Announcing the news, Thomas wrote on Instagram:

"Tika, I really thought you were going to live forever. I thought we had more time, but there are things we cannot control. Our hearts are shattered."

Thomas Shapiro shared that Tika had two liver tumors, which were removed through surgery. She seemed to recover well at first but looked weak the next day. He mentioned that vets first thought it was the painkillers but later realized her body was giving up.

Remembering Tika, he wrote:

"You spent your last moments at home, held by your favourite dads. We feel numb and lost now that you are gone, but we are so grateful you were surrounded by your family during your last moments."

Who is Thomas Shapiro, the famous dad of Tika the Iggy?

Thomas Shapiro got his bachelor's degree from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa, according to his LinkedIn profile. In the past, Shapiro had worked in a range of roles, including dance captain at Celebrity Cruises Inc., market research assistant at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, and web developer at LinkNow Media. His last role was at Centris as a front-end developer, which he left over three years ago.

In 2018, he married his partner, Louis. Announcing the news, he wrote on Instagram:

"Sunshine, 24 degrees, endless gratitude and love.🖤 I got to marry my best friend on the most beautiful day, surrounded by so many amazing people. My heart is so full."

During their wedding, Tika had a special role as the ring bearer.

Soon after Thomas Shapiro created Tika’s account in 2016, social media users began following her, making her one of the most famous dogs on the internet. Talking about her style, Thomas mentioned in a past interview with Business Insider:

"She's a blank canvas for a lot of designers. We really get to go ham and reach for the stars when it comes to designs and colors. She will wear anything that she's comfortable in. If she's not comfortable, it will show in the photos and ruin it for everyone."
