Social media influencer Zoe Rae is facing backlash over her new travel blog, where she showed her disappointment over her Bali trip, sharing that she didn't enjoy it. Zoe is the older sister of Molly Mae, an English reality television personality who has been featured in a documentary, 'Behind it All?' on Prime Video.

The 28-year-old is a fitness influencer with over 600k followers on Instagram and over 140k on YouTube. At the age of 22, Zoe entered the army and spent nearly four years in the British Army Medical Corps before leaving in 2023.

Because of her growing popularity in the entertainment world, Zoe got the chance to be featured on the cover of Women’s Fitness. Additionally, she is also working with famous brands like Gymshark, Ninja Kitchen UK, and Myprotein.

What did Zoe Rae say in her Bali travel vlog?

Zoe Rae uploaded a YouTube video titled "BALI VLOG | IT DIDN'T GO TO PLAN... ZOE RAE" on July 13. In the video, she talked negatively about Bali, a province of Indonesia, by saying:

"We came here with high expectations because we had seen on social media that everyone was having such a lovely time. Lovely places to eat and beaches, and lovely gyms and coffee shops."

She continued:

"But I don't think the reality of Bali is shown much at all, and I do think it is down to a lot of influencers posting the more luxury side of things."

In the video, the fitness influencer, who went to Bali to celebrate her first wedding anniversary with her husband, Danny, said she was suggested Uluwatu as a top spot, but she wasn’t impressed and wondered how the other places would be. As for her stay in Uluwatu, Zoe was reportedly staying at the well-known hotel chain Radisson Blu.

In another statement, she said:

"I think there are a lots other places to go where I think you would have a better experience and a better time."

The influencer soon faced backlash after posting the YouTube video, with many criticizing her comments about Bali and calling them insensitive.

Balinese activist and lawyer I Made Somya Putra called out the couple in a statement reported by the Daily Mail:

"In my opinion, this YouTuber is trying to bring Bali down and appears to be making sponsored or agenda-driven content."

A travel agent, Yuli Budi Santoso, gave a statement to MailOnline saying:

"I think in the future, they have to be blacklisted from entering Indonesia. They have already made Bali look bad."

Businessperson Nayaka Pidada also said in a statement:

"Bali chooses who comes and who stays. If someone is not satisfied with their visit, it means Bali has rejected them."

Zoe Rae has not responded to the backlash or made any further comments so far.
