Guy Branum is threatening legal action against a Delta passenger for elbowing him in the ribs. The reason behind this act is that Guy is too fat, the comedian claims. During an exclusive interview with TMZ, Guy showed the news outlet a bruise that formed where he was elbowed.
During the interview, Guy explained:
"Yeah, dude on a Delta flight hit me because he did not want to be sitting next to a fat guy."
He also elaborated on what happened after he was hit. In his words:
"The flight attendants and everybody were like, trying to get the guy thrown off, but he was a million miler, so he called in like a customer service person, one of the Delta red coats, and once he told her I was fat, then that was all they paid attention to."
Guy Branum added:
"They didn't deal with the fact... nobody asked me if I was okay. Nobody asked me if I needed medical attention or wanted to press charges. They will only focus on whether he might need to sit next to a fat person, and then they called me yesterday to say, 'we're sorry that happened to you,' but that it's not their responsibility to you know, contact the police when someone on their flight gets hit.
Has Guy Branum filed a police report after the incident on the Delta flight?
The interviewer asked Guy Branum if he had filed a police report after getting hit in the ribs by a Delta passenger. The comedian explained his case in detail:
"Yeah, they were supposed to file... they were supposed to call the police, so I can file a police report there, once I landed in L.A. The L.A. Delta staff were great. Somebody was supposed to call this into the tower at JFK, but because it happened at JFK before the doors were closed, I had to call up the Port Authority and get them to file a police report, which is hard, because you're supposed to do that in person."
He added:
"And I will be pressing charges criminally and trying to sue this man civilly."
Guy Branum reiterated:
"You do not have the right to hit somebody else just because you think they are too fat."
Guy Branum also shared how he responded after showing the "beautiful bruise". He said:
"He didn't get kicked off the plane. He stayed on the plane the whole time. He was like 5'8, I could've throttled the guy, I'm a comedian, I could've talked sh*t at the guy. I didn't do anything or say anything because I was trying to de-escalate the situation, but it was Delta's responsibility to take care of me in that situation."
He continued:
"I didn't want to make trouble for the people around me, but the people around me stood up and told the Delta representative, 'This guy hit him, this guy's a problem.' He hit another woman before me because she was putting something, she was trying to put something in the overhead rack, like it was close to his seat. He was a problem, and everybody told them that, but because he was a million miler, they were like hands off this guy."
Guy Branum further explained how there are no American Airlines that have a "reasonable policy" for fat passengers. He pointed out how Europe has certain laws to deal with seating issues. He urged Delta Airlines to come up with a reasonable policy. Branum, who is a Delta Platinum passenger, concluded the interview by questioning whether he should fly with them again in the future.
