A judge has ordered Teyana Taylor to pay her ex-husband, Iman Shumpert, $70,000 in legal fees after finding her in contempt of court during their ongoing divorce dispute. The ruling follows a hearing in which both attended to address claims that they had each violated the divorce settlement terms.
Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert's dispute is based on a clause in their 2024 divorce judgment, which prohibited either side from disclosing details of the settlement.
Shumpert accused Taylor of breaching that agreement when she posted an Instagram video in March, in which she reportedly discussed their split. The judge agreed with Shumpert's claim and ruled that Taylor's post disclosed prohibited information.
Teyana Taylor also accused Shumpert of leaking details about the divorce to the press. However, the court ruled she failed to provide evidence to support that claim. The judge also noted that Taylor and her legal team "failed to engage in even a minimal amount of diligence" before filing her contempt motion.
According to US Weekly, the court order requires Teyana Taylor to pay $70,000 to Shumpert's lawyer to cover his legal costs. Her request that Shumpert pay her own attorney's fees was denied.

The couple married in October 2016. They share two daughters: Iman "Junie" Tayla Shumpert Jr. and Rue Rose Shumpert. Taylor filed for divorce in January 2023. The official document cited "cruel treatment." It also claimed Shumpert was emotionally abusive and insecure about her career. Shumpert denied those allegations.

Court records show the judge found Teyana Taylor "in willful contempt" of the Final Judgment and Decree of Divorce for disclosing information about the settlement in her Instagram video. The judge also reportedly pointed out Taylor's active career since the divorce judgment. These factors supported Shumpert's argument that she could afford the $70,000 legal fees.
