Why was Sonja Morgan banned from Tucci after a $1,000 meal? Controversy explained

Sonja Morgan, former star of Real Housewives of New York City, was banned from the NYC Italian restaurant Tucci on May 11, 2025, after she refused to pay a $1,000 bill.

According to a report in Page Six, she apparently believed the bill was comped but called the owner, Max Tucci, demanding a complimentary meal because she is a single mother, although her daughter is 24 years old.

“She was absolutely hysterical and refused to pay. It was like she was filming a ‘Housewives’ episode, shouting, ‘I’m a celebrity!,'” a source told the outlet.

The reports also added that she booked a table for three and turned up at the restaurant with five people on a busy weekend night. Just when she was delivered a bill of $1000, she refused to pay it, assuming that the dinner was on the house.

She paid the bill later, including a gratuity. Despite settling the account, she was banned from the restaurant Tucci. It was due to her causing a dramatic scene at the restaurant and humiliating the staff.

According to a report in People magazine, Quincy Morgan is the only daughter of Sonja Morgan, a former cast member of The Real Housewives of New York City, and financier John Adams Morgan, who recently passed away in February. He was 94.

On his death, Quincy took to her Instagram to announce his death, and wrote:

“As an obituary was published yesterday, I want to take the opportunity to tell you all myself that my father passed away this month. My family is navigating this together. I very much loved and admired my dad. I am so grateful for the love and care I have been shown in these past weeks.”

Quincy was born in October 2000 in New York City. She was raised largely out of the public eye. In a 2016 interview with the Bustle, Sonja shared that she was proud of her 15-year-old daughter who headed off to boarding school. She told the outlet,

“I'm very close to my daughter and she's a very high achiever. I'm very proud of her, I worry, and I support her 100 percent, because she achieves so well. She's very much impressed and interested now with the fashion, the jewelry and the swimwear. That has her attention now. She's very smart, so she's interested in the aspects of the marketing of that.”

Quincy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s College of Arts and Sciences in May 2023. Her mom took to Instagram to celebrate the moment. She wrote:

“The proudest day of my life. My darling daughter graduated Summa Cum Laude at The University of Penn. I would say best of all she’s happy and happens to be a well rounded, kind and humble young woman with great aspirations. All this fused with innate talent.”

People magazine reported that she is a painter and a multimedia artist. She loved art since she was a kid and has an Instagram account called Art By Quincy Morgan, which is dedicated to her artwork.

She recently shared a Mother’s Day post dedicated to her mother on Instagram, captioned “The best mom.” The post contained several photos from her childhood with her mother.

However, Quincy is not someone who loves attention and would not follow her mother’s footsteps into the television or film industry. She has expressed a clear preference for a corporate career.
