In a court hearing today, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has pleaded guilty to breaching the terms of his supervised release. The police authorities had obtained drugs and guns from his Miami home earlier this year, and the rapper has now accepted the charges.

In turn, Tekashi 6ix9ine's sentencing has also been delayed till September so that the court will have time to better address the plea deal's implications. This will allow the rapper to complete his community service obligations and focus on his mental health issues.

While delivering the delayed sentencing, Judge Paul Engelmayer warned the rapper of the following:

“The court would have the authority to impose a prison term of up to five years. On each of these violations, the guidelines recommend a term of 3-9 months in prison."

The court has issued a stern warning to Tekashi for his recent behaviour and has warned him not to commit any misdemeanors in the coming months. As part of the agreement, the court has also agreed to withdraw the gun and drug-related charges against Tekashi, provided he complies with the terms offered by the court.

Tekashi 6ix9ine's past brushes with the law

Tekashi 6ix9ine encountered the law rather regularly throughout the years, but the racketeering case is the most prominent one as it occurred in 2019 and took him to prison. He also took part in firearms and gang-related offenses around the time, but the fact that he pleaded as a star witness in cases against other members of his gang helped him get a shorter sentence.

Tekashi 6ix9ine was locked up for two years behind bars, but was released even before that due to his health issues. The rapper had also received five years of supervised release as part of the verdict, which still continues to this day. In an interview with Fox 5 New York, Tekashi recounted his jail experience, where he was quoted as saying:

"The pressure is so strong. Mentally, I think people would have attempted suicide. At a point in jail, I thought about it. It’s so much stress, so much pressure, because you’re seeing yourself on the news every day — this, that and a third, when is this going to come to an end?"

He then went on to add:

"God has built me so strong,” he said. “You know that saying, ‘What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger’? So basically I feel like I’m not invincible but I feel like I’m at the peak of my mental state, where I’m just like, ‘I’ll be fine."

Tekashi 6ix9ine was also caught in violation of his probation in 2024, and the recent episode adds another chapter to his troubled legacy. The rapper has been given another reprieve by the court despite the transgressions witnessed over the past year, and the rapper's behavior will be under strict watch till September.
