Trey Songz was in the news after an alleged dispute with a New York club employee earlier this month. The dispute happened in Dramma Night Club in New York City.

The incident took place on December 6 after the employee told Trey Songz that the club was ending its operation for the day, after which the singer hit him.

He was taken into custody on second-degree mischief and third-degree assault charges. As for the employee he punched, the prosecutors have given him a legal protection order against the singer for his safety.

While Trey hasn't commented on his arrest or shared any statements on social media, he remains active on Instagram, where he posted a story on December 14.

Earlier this year, Trey Songz faced arrest after reports circulated that he got into an altercation with a cameraman and caused damage to his gear, according to Billboard. The incident took place at a Long Island show.

Trey Songz is scheduled to appear in court again on February 18 for the next hearing.

Trey Songz's lawyer speaks out on his recent arrest

Speaking of his recent arrest after the Dramma Night Club incident, Trey Songz's lawyer said in a reported statement by The Post:

"His security intervened to protect him and contain the situation, and an altercation occurred in the ensuring confusion. Despite being the target of the initial provocation, Trey was arrested. Public figures are often treated as targets for instigation in pursuit of headlines or financial gain."

The statement continued:

"Trey is cooperating fully in both matters, and we are confident the full context and facts will come to light."

Songz has faced many arrests for assault in the past, including an onstage outburst nearly ten years ago and a fight at a Kansas City Chiefs game in 2021. After the fight at the Kansas City Chiefs game, he also uploaded an Instagram post with the caption:

"Chiefs game was lit right?!"

He has also been accused of multiple sexual assaults, with some cases resolved or dismissed and others still ongoing.

Speaking of the Long Island incident, his attorney, Ted Anastasiou, said in a reported statement by Billboard:

"What happened at the Ivy was the result of increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space, conduct that puts everyone at risk and a trend that’s impacting not just Trey but artists everywhere."

The statement continues:

"Trey disputes the characterization of events, is cooperating fully with authorities and looks forward to the facts, not speculation, speaking for themselves"

As of now, Songz or his spokesperson has not released any statement regarding his recent arrest.
