Jason Thor Hall, who is famously known by his Twitch streaming name, Pirate Software, has recently found himself at the center of controversies, causing debate and backlash. The situation has further escalated with serious allegations of emotional abuse and financial exploitation.

The streamer made headlines during a World of Warcraft Classic Hardcore run in January 2025. Pirate Software, who was in the OnlyFangs guild at the time, was blamed after two players died when he ran away instead of helping during a dungeon fight. People said he could have helped as a Mage by slowing the enemies, but instead, he chose to protect himself.

After the incident, he was removed from the group by OnlyFangs leader Sodapoppin. As of June 2025, Pirate Software has caught himself in a new controversy surrounding sexual and financial exploitation. Let's understand the situation from the beginning.

Twitch streamer Pirate Software addresses the OnlyFangs controversy

After receiving hate and backlash, Pirate Software uploaded a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on January 15 explaining his side.

"From my perspective I didn't feel I could save anyone else with the resources I had left even with mana gem and robe cooldowns. Since the call to run was made I followed the call and got out as quickly as possible."

He continued,

"The next few days was just tens of thousands of messages berating me, sending death threats, doxxing, and all kinds of sh*t. This happened on Twitch, Twitter, YouTube, Steam, Reddit, Discord, and over VOIP initiated Phone Calls all at the same time."

The streamer also shared screenshots and proof of the threats he received to show how serious the situation had become. Additionally, he encouraged others to defend themselves in these situations and thanked the people who reached out to him.

Sodapoppin, the leader of the OnlyFangs guild, also shared his thoughts on the situation during a livestream.

"Those two people did not need to die. Pirate absolutely could have saved them if he played his class to a basic level, which he claims to know how to do. I’ve seen clips and I’ve heard it. He claims he knows how to do."

He further mentioned,

"Viewers are going way too far with it. His play was terrible, he ratted out hard. Despite that people, it’s getting crazy. It has gone really far.”

Pirate Software accused of emotional abuse and sexual exploitation

While people were already talking about Pirate Software's controversy with OnlyFangs, on June 9, a user on X (formerly Twitter) with the name @LyricWulf posted a statement saying,

"When I was 20 years old, Jason Thor Hall (aka PirateSoftware), aged 31 at the time, emotionally abused and manipulated me for sexual and financial gain Thor’s actions had a severe impact on my life, causing me to give up being a uni student and a creator"

As of 2025, Pirate Software is reportedly thirty-eight years old. According to the statement, the alleged incident happened seven years ago, when Thor was thirty-one and the other person was twenty at the time.

The post carried multiple threads where the user explained the whole situation. As per the user, the conversation with Thor began in February 2018 over copyright, after the user uploaded a piano transcription from his game Heartbound.

Another thread read,

"On August 26th, 2018, I would make a large donation of $800 to Thor while he was streaming the development of his game. From that moment onward, Thor suddenly expressed immense romantic interest with me. On the next day Thor would, unprovoked, initiate erotic roleplay with me."

Additionally, @LyricWulf also provided the screenshots as proof in the thread. As per the user's statement, when they said they didn’t want a committed relationship, Thor pressured to change the user's mind. The thread also mentioned Shaye (Thor's business partner), who told about Pirate Software's wife. However, Thor said the claims were not true.

As per @LyricWulf, in March 2019, Lyric charged back an $800 donation made to Thor in 2018. After this, Thor allegedly called Lyric a scammer online and filed a DMCA claim against Lyric's YouTube channel. The situation escalated with Lyric responding with a Google Doc, claiming Thor was married at the time and falsely accusing the user of leaking his phone number.

The original thread read,

"In reality: Thor was married from October 17, 2015 to February 18, 2020. I never leaked his phone number. Thor’s actions toward me were focused on financially exploiting me."

The situation also involved Lyric's partner, as Thor and Shaye reportedly reached out to the partner, claiming Lyric had doxxed them and requesting that the chargeback be reversed. The situation reportedly affected Lyric’s mental health and studies. Lyric said that when they tried to speak out, they were accused of lying and not being a real victim.

Pirate Software has not responded to these allegations as of now.
