YouTuber Kate Albrecht fell into a coma after giving birth to baby No. 2, the couple reveals details

Kate Albrecht and Joey Zehr had a health scare after their second pregnancy and they are opening up about it. The Mr. Kate YouTubers in an exclusive interview with People published on July 18, 2025, recounted the health ordeal that Kate endured after giving birth to their second child, Mars on May 22, 2025.

Kate Albrecht stated that having birthed her first son, Moon through Caesarean section, she looked forward to experiencing natural birth. While the birthing process went without a hassle, the couple were in for a rough couple of weeks. Kate revealed to People that after she gave birth to her daughter Mars, she became tired and sore:

"I was so tired and so sore. I felt like, 'Wait, this is supposed to be easier. I'm supposed to recover from a natural childbirth easier than a surgery,' but I was bedridden."

She was cleared by doctors and was with a family friend at home when she fell into a coma:

"I was starting to just not be able to think clearly," she remembered. "She put me in bed, and that's actually where my memory stops."

After Kate Albrecht became unresponsive, her friend called Joey who rushed to her rescue. The family content creator recalled to People that he tried to wake her up to no avail. To make matters worse, Kate Albrecht started having seizures in the room:

"I immediately jump on the bed and yell at her, and she won't wake up," he shared. "Kate started having seizures in the room, which was terrible to watch."

Joey reached out to a film crew medic who was outside filming and was told that Kate could possibly be experiencing eclampsia—a rare condition that sees pregnant or Postpartum mothers suddenly experience seizures that may take up to six weeks.

Joey recalled that after Kate had another seizure on the way to hospital, she was intubated and placed in a medical coma. After more tests, Kate woke up the next day and later was discharged from the hospital. While the couple have put the harrowing experience behind them, they wish someone had spoken to them about it.

Kate Albrecht and Joey updated fans about their well-being, adding that the baby was fine and “getting better everyday.”
