Gilmore Girls follows the mother-daughter duo, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and her daughter, Rory (Alexis Bledel), and their codependent relationship while they face challenges in achieving their goals of owning an inn for Lorelai and going to Harvard for Rory.

The many challenges they face come from their complicated past and the many romantic endeavors in their lives. Watching a show that focuses on the mother and daughter’s different approaches to life is a good watch and deserves to be placed in the list of Mother’s Day shows.

9) The Gilded Age

Another show on the list of Mother’s Day shows is The Gilded Age. With interesting themes of the late 19th century revolving around the social scene of a rigid and class-oriented society, it is a good show to binge-watch this weekend.

The show follows the conflicts between the Russells, with new money gained through industrialisation, trying to enter the polite society, and the old money family of the van Rhijn-Brook, who are too stuck in the old rules and don’t see the need to acknowledge the new money families. Other than the people with money, the show also brings to light the trials and tribulations of the African-American society and the domestic workers who work for the wealthy families.

8) Schitt’s Creek

Schitt’s Creek is a show that should be on everyone's watchlist, not just the list of Mother’s Day shows. It follows the Rose family, who lose all their wealth after their business manager embezzles their business and shift to a remote town called Schitt’s Creek, which Johnny Rose (Eugene Levy) had bought for his son's birthday, as a joke.

They go to the town with a plan of selling it for good, but end up staying there and becoming a part of the community.

7) Derry Girls

Set during the troubles of the 1990s, this comedy show follows a group of high school friends living in Northern Ireland. It's a heartwarming show, with the group facing new challenges, which they tend to solve on their own, but surprisingly, most of the time, they get caught by their families.

With four seasons and a perfect and uplifting ending, it's a great show to binge-watch on the weekend with your mother.

The inspiring story of how the newly adopted girl, Anne Shirley, makes a place in the heart of everyone in Green Gables with her dreamy and optimistic approach to life, even during the dark days, is easily one of the shows that you should definitely watch from the list of Mother’s Day shows.

Anne is adopted by the elderly Cuthbert siblings, one of whom, Marilla, appears to be strict with Anne at the beginning, but it doesn’t take a lot of time for the woman to see the innocence and high-spiritedness of the young girl, which wins her over, just like her brother.

5) Bridgerton

This Regency era show will take you back to 19th-century England, where the eight siblings of the Bridgerton family enter into society in search of their love amid many challenges put in front of them.

It is a great show to be added to the list of Mother’s Day shows as the relationships in the Bridgerton family, whether a sibling or a mother and child relationship, appear too close to each other and face hardships together. Other than the exquisite romance shown in the Netflix show, the familial bonds depicted are too real and relatable to ignore.

4) This is Us

Among the light-hearted shows, this one is a heavy tear-jerker. In this show, the lives of the Pearson family are depicted over several decades, from Rebecca and Jack’s first meeting, their marriage, their kids being born, and the loves of the three kids as adults.

Even if the show is bound to make you cry in every other episode, the narrative and the performance of the actors will keep you glued to the stories, with tissues in your hands.

3) Call the Midwife

You can’t go wrong with a show that depicts the historical issues women have gone through during and after childbirth by adding it to the list of Mother’s Day shows.

Call the Midwife is an important show that depicts the late 20th century in the East End of London, where the midwives struggle to deliver children safely, with numerous issues surrounding them, such as the medical problems that have little to no solutions, and the midwives being slumped with birthing and even taking care of the newborns afterwards. The show gives a glimpse of how childbirth is an important event for a mother, but it is also one of the most dangerous times for her.

2) Against the Ropes

This brightly colored joyride of a show focuses on the emotional story of a mother and her daughter. In the show, Caraly Sánchez’s Ángela comes back home after spending six years in prison for a crime she didn't commit.

While trying to prove her innocence, her main goal is to have her daughter Rocío (Alisson Santiago) love and respect her again. To do that, she enters the lucha libre wrestling, which her daughter loves, with a mysterious identity. It is a great show with a great theme and deserves to be on the list of Mother’s Day shows.

Just like its name, Reply 1988 is a nostalgic ride to our blissful childhoods. The K-drama follows the story of five childhood friends and their families living in the same neighborhood of Ssangmun-dong.

While most of the story revolves around the friends’ lives, a major portion of the series also depicts the sweet and supportive relationship their mothers have. Whether sharing dishes, gossiping about their husbands and children, or being there for each other when one of them is going through a tough time, these three women’s support for each other is phenomenal.
