3 Body Problem Season 1 streamed all of its eight episodes in March 2024. The series was received by both people and fans of the books published in 2006, 2008, and 2010. Despite some changes from the source material, fans are looking forward to the upcoming seasons. It seems that Netflix will follow the books, as the series, like the source material, will run for three seasons.

Netflix already renewed the series for two more seasons in May 2024, to which the 3 Body Problem creators released this statement:

“We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion. Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”

While we know very little about the second or third season, people are logging on to Netflix to watch the series before the second or third season streams on the platform. As that happens, some are wondering if the sci-fi series is suitable for kids or not. In simple words, it's not suitable for kids.

3 Body Problem parents guide: Here's why the Netflix sci-fi series is not suitable for kids:

While not as explicit as Game of Thrones, 3 Body Problem features some gory scenes throughout the eight-episode season 1. The most disturbing scene in the season is in the fifth episode. In that scene, the fans were shocked to see a being split into multiple pieces by super-thin nanofibers. Viewers were shocked to see people being cut in half with their insides exposed.

Apart from that one scene, there are several other scenes of shocking deaths throughout the series. This is why Netflix's 3 Body Problem is suitable for adults only. The official logline for the series reads:

"The story begins in 1960s China when a young woman makes a fateful decision that reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel, a tight-knit group of brilliant scientists must join forces with an unflinching detective to stop humanity’s greatest threat. 3 Body Problem is an epic story that redefines sci-fi drama with its layered mysteries and story of human connection."

What do we know about season 2?

Not much is known about the second season; however, Netflix announced new cast members for the upcoming season. Netflix announced that these actors have joined the cast for season 2:

  • Claudia Doumit: Captain Van Rijn
  • Jordan Sunshine
  • Alfie Allen
  • Ellie De Lange: Ayla
  • David Yip

D.B. Weiss hyped up the second season to Netflix recently, saying that he, David Benioff, and Alexander Woo took the job to work on the series for what's going to happen in season 2:

“We included a lot of what we loved from the [novels by Cixin Liu] in Season 1, but the vast majority of reasons we wanted to make this show are in Season 2. We always wanted to get to the final page of the third book, and it’s really, really thrilling to us that we will get to do just that.”

Season 2 is currently under production; thus, it will be a while before it streams on Netflix entirely.

"The eight-episode series, based on writer Cixin Liu’s internationally celebrated Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy, repeatedly defies human science standards and forces the characters to head back to the drawing board to figure out how to face humanity’s greatest threat. Taking us on a mind-boggling journey that spans continents and timelines, the story begins in ’60s China, when a young woman makes a fateful decision that reverberates across space and time into the present day. With humanity’s future in danger, a group of tight-knit scientists, dubbed the Oxford Five, must work against time to save the world from catastrophic consequences."

The first season is currently streaming on Netflix. Catch all eight episodes of the series before season 2 wraps up production and streams on the platform.
