While The Big Bang Theory left a lasting impression on fans, the spin-off show, Young Sheldon, managed to garner a similar hype, where fans were deeply saddened when the show came to an end last May. Although the show was a cultural hit, it is difficult to ignore that Young Sheldon featured several inconsistencies from the original narrative of The Big Bang Theory.

Young Sheldon garnered such immense viewership because it was based on the childhood stories of one of the most interesting protagonists in TV history, Dr. Sheldon Cooper. The characters in the show are based on the childhood narratives of Sheldon. However, it is hard to miss that the storyline of Young Sheldon and the storyline of The Big Bang Theory feature many inconsistencies.

Here are some of the most glaring plot points that feature in Young Sheldon that do not match with The Big Bang Theory.

3 major inconsistencies within the plot lines of Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory

1) George Cooper was not the absentee father that adult Sheldon described

In The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon regularly used to describe his father as a drunkard who was not very present in their family life. However, the portrayal of George Cooper in the subsequent spin-off was very different, and the character played a monumental role in all of his children's lives.

2) Meemaw was portrayed as a very traditional grandmother in The Big Bang Theory

Meemaw is one of the most integral characters in Sheldon Cooper's life, both in The Big Bang Theory and the spin-off show. However, the treatment of the character in both shows was very different. While in Young Sheldon, Meemaw is seen as a modern, feisty woman who is fiercely protective of her grandchildren, the fierce protectiveness seems to be the only characteristic that is retained in The Big Bang Theory. In the original show, Meemaw makes an appearance where she seems to be extremely traditional, which is especially highlighted in her first interaction with Sheldon's girlfriend, Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler.

3) Sheldon's father is seemingly Leonard's school bully

Another quite noticeable loophole in both shows was the fact that Leonard's school bully in The Big Bang Theory and Sheldon's father in the spin-off show were played by the same actor, Lance Barber. While this is not a story-shifting loophole, it is one that is quite hard to miss for die-hard fans of the show.

These are some of the most prominent plot points that are inconsistent in The Big Bang Theory and its spin-off show, Young Sheldon.
