Robert Patrick is one of those characters that stick with you whether you watch him on a TV show or a film. It does not matter if he’s playing a villain or a lawman. What matters is how he never fails to leave a mark on the project he's working on.
Over the years, he’s taken up projects that show just how amazing and noteworthy his range is. If you’ve only found out about him through Tulsa King, where he played Jeremiah Dunmire, here are five movies and shows that’ll make you understand why he is one of Hollywood’s most consistent actors for decades.
5 Robert Patrick movies and TV shows that will make you a fan of the Tulsa King star
1] Peacemaker
In Peacemaker, Robert Patrick completely disappears into the role of Auggie Smith, the twisted father of John Cena’s titular antihero. Auggie is barbaric, calculating, and the image of everything Peacemaker tries not to be.
Patrick plays a racist villain known as the White Dragon, he tells his story with every tiny scary smirk and look. What makes this performance one to remember isn’t just that the character is evil but it’s the uncomfortable feeling that Patrick attaches to the character.
We see flashes of the broken father/son dynamic, scenes that explain how Peacemaker became who he is.
It’s one of those roles that remind you how Robert Patrick can turn even the darkest character into something layered and fascinating.
2] The X-Files
The X-Files brought in Robert Patrick as Special Agent John Doggett in Season 8 and 9 and the fans were indeed skeptical at first. Replacing David Duchovny’s Mulder wasn’t as easy. However, Patrick owned the character. He was sharp and skeptical and that's what people eventually started to love about him.
Doggett wasn’t chasing anything supernatural because he believed in them but only because he was desperate for answers.
Robert Patrick’s presence on The X-Files helped in balancing out the strange and paranormal and he proved again how effortlessly he could command the screen without saying anything much.
3] Scorpion
In CBS’s Scorpion, Robert Patrick played a very different kind of role as Agent Cabe Gallo. He was the government handler and he lead a team full of smart but socially awkward intellectuals.
Now, Cabe is a man who has seen it all. He's an ex-FBI agent who hides his guilt and regrets under his serious attitude. His chemistry with Walter O’Brien is especially important to the show as their father/son dynamic drives much of the show forward.
Across four seasons, Patrick plays Cabe, a loyal character even when he's being surrounded by the most of chaos and issues. Scorpion is just another reminder of how Robert Patrick does not really need grand gestures to make his characters feel real as his eyes and tone do most of the talking.
4] Bridge to Terabithia
In the movie Bridge to Terabithia, Robert Patrick plays his most understated performance as Jack Aarons, the struggling father of Jess (Josh Hutcherson). Here, Patrick let's go of his tough-guy persona and and shows us that he can also very well play a vulnerable guy.
Here, he's a parent trying but failing to connect with his son. The movie may revolve around childhood imagination and friendship, but it’s Patrick’s too performance adds the depth that this movie requires.
He gets the hold of the frustration of a man who is being tied down by financial stress and the guilt of not being the father he would like to be. His subtle portrayal makes Jack feel like a painfully real dad, giving the film a layer that sticks with you.
It’s a softer side of Robert Patrick that proves his acting isn’t limited to action or intensity and that he can break your heart too.
5] Terminator 2: Judgment Day
It’s impossible to talk about Robert Patrick without mentioning Terminator 2: Judgment Day. As the T-1000, he reworked his way on a villain could be. With his liquid metal body and cold blue stare, Patrick created one of cinema’s most iconic foes.
What’s wild is how much emotion he could convey with limited dialogue. Every step, every expression, he made it feel like it was being thoroughly calculated, making the T-1000 both human and machine in the most chilling way.
His scenes with Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 are pure movie magic and these scenes are still iconic decades later even today. Terminator 2 made Patrick out to be one of the best character actors of his generation. Even now, that icy look is unforgettable.
Whether he’s playing an assassin, a tortured father, or a federal agent, Robert Patrick brings something obviously real to every role and every character. His performances never feel forced.
Watching him across these films and shows, it’s easy to see why Tulsa King fans can’t get enough of him. He doesn’t just play characters; he lives them, leaving a lasting mark on every story he steps into.
