While HBO is about to showcase its Harry Potter reboot soon, the upcoming show just proves the point that studios and channels are eager to keep the world of wizarding that JK Rowling created, alive.

However, it is now time that other avenues and worlds are explored and new characters and storylines around magic are created. While there is a lot of excitement over the new Harry Potter reboot, some fans are wary of how it will turn out.

Therefore, now is the perfect time for channels and studios to make sure that they also experiment with adjacent storylines and characters and create fresh spin-offs that might even turn out to be better than a Harry Potter reboot.

The Rise of Voldemort, Ministry of Magic, and other spin-off ideas that could be bettern than a Harry Potter reboot

1. Fantastic Beasts 4

While viewers have already seen some Fantastic Beasts movies, the planned five-movie saga unfortunately never moved ahead after three movies. A spin-off of the Fantastic Beasts franchise would be better than a Harry Potter reboot as the movies explored the life of Albus Dumbledore and his feud with Gellert Grindelwald.

While both of them had a duel in The Secrets of Dumbledore, the franchise never got the end it deserved and fans were robbed of the ultimate battle between the two great giants. Therefore, HBO could pick this franchise up and finally give the battle between Jude Law’s Dumbledore and Mads Mikkelsen’s Grindelwald.

2. Hogwarts Legacy

When the open-world video game registered a massive response from the people, Warner Bros. decided that the game needs to be made into something more. According to The Direct, the studio wants a new franchise based on the game and this could be even better than the Harry Potter reboot.

The game was praise for its set and original story of a goblin rebellion and ancient magic. Therefore, HBO can make this into a TV series or it could make a completely new show about the famous school of wizards and expand the universe of magic.

3. The Rise of Voldemort

One of the most enigmatic characters in Harry Potter, Voldemort is the ultimate villain and the ruler of dark magic. While fans of the franchise know that Dumbledore found Tom Riddle as a child and he was the one who grew up to be Voldemort, fans don’t really know about the in-betweens. What happened that caused Riddle to turn into Voldemort and did he have some goodness within him?

HBO could therefore dive into the story that covered the origins of Voldemort and could cover aspects like Riddle’s time at Hogwarts, his starting of the Death Eaters and the Horcruxes. The show could be shown from his point-of-view as that would definitely enthrall the viewers and make for a more interesting concept than a Harry Potter reboot.

4. Quidditch Through the Ages

In the Fantastic Beasts saga, the story was inspired by an in-universe book that was written by Newt Scamander. The book was also written in the real-world by JK Rowling. Another such book about Quidditch, chronicles the history and rules of the magical sports.

Therefore, a spin-off about this book and its author Kennilworthy Whisp, could be better than a Harry Potter reboot. Adding a touch of sports drama and thrill to a fantasy-based show could definitely make the viewers intrigued and the show could tell the story of different teams’ rise to glory and fall.

5. The Ministry of Magic

Apart from a Harry Potter reboot, HBO could also look at the life of grown-ups. The show could be a political drama spin-off and could explore the power struggles that happened after Voldemort’s defeat. The show could have new characters and some old ones to make the viewers feels comfortable yet excited.

Fans of the franchise have seen enough of the world of children, now, the world of adults and the day-to-day life at Hogwarts must be showcased. Other departments like Department of Magical Accidents could also be shown in the spin-off and fans would definitely like this new saga.
