Abbott Elementary Season 5 Episode 4 recap: Janine saves Gregory’s party

In Abbott Elementary Season 5 Episode 4, Janine arrives at the school and tells everyone that the planned game night at her home has to be called off, as the water pipeline at her apartment has broken down. Jacob then proposes to have the party at his place, but Melissa, who happens to be his flatmate, straightaway refuses.

Gregory then comes to the rescue and invites everyone to his place. However, Janine is concerned, as she is aware of how uptight and not-so-party-animal her boyfriend is. Though she wants to help him out, she does not say anything, as she is worried that it could hurt his feelings.

Janine is then the first one to arrive at the game night, and as she expected, Gregory has made some unconventional arrangements at his place. From using a weight bench and gym ball as seats to serving Kombucha instead of drinks, Gregory has done the best he could, but Janine knows it is going to be a flop show. The somber music being interrupted by advertisements does not help either.

The guests then start arriving, including Erika, Jacob, Elijah, and Simon, and only Elijah seems to be enjoying the party. Even when the board game begins, everyone thinks it is a snooze fest. But Janine, being Janine, tries to cheer everyone up. Things turn into chaos when Gregory opens the window in hopes of getting some fresh air, but a pigeon flies into the apartment.

Looking at the mess, Janine steps up and tells Gregory that he needs to listen to her now. She has already brought stuff from her place to keep the party going and ultimately saves the night. Gregory and Janine then kiss and once again prove how they complete each other.

Abbott Elementary Season 5 Episode 4 recap: The teachers' misadventures at the DMV

Elsewhere in the episode, Mr. Johnson is going on vacation in New Orleans. Realizing that he will need a renewed ID to fly on the plane, he plans to go to the DMV after school. Ava, Melissa, and Barbara join him, as they all need to get their licenses renewed.

But the trip ends up being a misadventure as Mr. Johnson fails to submit all the papers, Barbara fails her license test, Ava is unable to get the perfect picture for the ID, and Melissa just keeps waiting for her turn. Meanwhile, the grumpy employee at the office makes things harder for the teachers.

In the end, Mr. Johnson comes across a janitor at the office, who happens to be his old friend. The janitor then helps him get his ID by blackmailing the grumpy employee, and he finally heads to New Orleans.

On the other hand, the rest of the teachers come back empty-handed. Abbott Elementary Season 5 ends with the revelation that Mr. Johnson is quite an adventurous man, as a news report claims he has tackled multiple alligators alone during his vacation in New Orleans.
