After 9-1-1 Season 8, I think it's high time that Ravi becomes a permanent member of the 118

Anirudh Pisharody's Ravi Pannikar debuted in 9-1-1 Season 4 as a probie with the 118 and has since appeared in many episodes.

While Ravi had limited screen time and mostly filled in for other characters, he quickly became a fan favorite. I think the sincerity with which Pisharody portrays the character justified his arc and he was able to leave an impression even in his limited screen time.

Ravi appeared in many 9-1-1 episodes after Season 4 but his character finally got some spotlight in Season 8, after Eddie moved to Texas.

While Ravi deserved a permanent position at the 118, his heroics in the fatal episode Contagion proved this even more. He helped the squad retrieve the antidote for Chimney without thinking twice about his job.

He proved to be a team player with the 118 and diligently helped them survive the ordeal, and surely deserves a permanent spot in 9-1-1 Season 9.

More on this in our story.

I think Ravi deserves a permanent spot at the 118 in 9-1-1 Season 9

While 9-1-1 once had a stable ensemble of actors, Season 8 began with instability. With Eddie's move to Texas and Ravi filling in his place, the procedural underwent many changes.

However, I was not ready for the biggest change yet, Peter Krause's Captain Bobby Nash's sudden death. While the main character's death was a gut punch, it made the 118 dynamics even more unstable and dull. Since Bobby was the glue that held the 118 family together, it mostly fell apart after his death.

While Chimney's powerful speech in the Season 8 finale cemented him as the future captain in the next chapter, the procedural needs more stability and it is high time that it welcomes Ravi as a permanent member.

In addition, after Chimney takes over the Captain's position, the stage is set for Ravi to be Buck's permanent partner and a firefighter in the 118.

Since Eddie's return was also teased in the Season 8 finale, he will likely rejoin the 118 as a paramedic, which can open doors for Ravi and Buck's future partnership.

While Ravi initially struggled to fit in the 118 in 9-1-1, with Bobby mistakenly calling him Eddie and the squad largely treating him as a probie, the character could provide some much-needed stability and add a fun layer to the team after Bobby's death.

What has Anirudh Pisharody said about Ravi's future in 9-1-1?

The signs for Ravi becoming a permanent firefighter with the 118 in 9-1-1 Season 9 are all there and even actor Anirudh Pisharody wants to join the procedural in full capacity.

Talking about Ravi's future, Pishorady jokingly teased in an interview with ScreenRant:

''I'm hoping it happens [that Ravi becomes a permanent part]. I'm definitely hoping it happens. I love the show, I love the people, and it's a part of me in more ways than one.''

If Ravi becomes a permanent character in Season 9, it will be exciting to learn more about his life and his initial days in this career, in an episode like 'Ravi Begins' (which is a beloved episode format of the show).

After the 9-1-1 Season 8 finale, where Eddie heroically saved Buck and Ravi, the fans are wishing for a three-way team in the 118 and Pisharody is also on board as he told Decider:

“I’m definitely excited [to explore Buck, Eddie and Ravi's dynamic]. I’m sure the writers, in tandem with our fire tech, will figure out how a three-man unit would work.”
