All of us are dead from waiting for a Season 2. That's what fans of this Netflix horror K-drama are thinking after its prolonged hiatus. The breakthrough show debuted on the platform in January 2022.

While All of Us Are Dead Season 2 was renewed just four months (June 2022) after the first chapter, production on the sophomore season has still not started. Based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by Joo Dong-geun, the apocalyptic K-drama followed Hyosan High School after a deadly zombie outbreak.

The children and teachers of the school were stuck after a deadly virus was unleashed by a science teacher, which turned humans into flesh-eating zombies.

Following the success of previous South Korean shows like Squid Game, the horror K-drama was watched over 474.26 million hours in the first 30 days of its release. It also topped Netflix's Top 10 charts in many countries.

While All of Us Are Dead Season 2 was expected to return in 2025, Netflix pushed back production for a year, extending the wait period for fans.

With no news about the progress on Season 2, fans are becoming impatient, and the sophomore season might see some major ratings drop if it continues to delay production.

More on this in our story.

I think it's high time Netflix releases All of Us Are Dead Season 2

While I appreciate Netflix's dedication and concern about the quality of their content, I think the wait for All of Us Are Dead Season 2 has been prolonged to an extent that fans are losing interest in the story.

While the K-drama was expected to start production in 2024, Netflix pushed it forward to have a ''better production environment and high-quality completeness''. Season 2 production is scheduled to begin sometime in 2025 and the new chapter will likely be released in 2026.

I cannot help but think how All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will have one big problem when it returns with a new chapter. Since the show will likely return after four years, it will have to help the viewers reconnect with the characters.

Not only is a waiting period of four years frustratingly long, but people have started to lose interest in the story and characters. As Reddit user u/harzum6 rightly commented:

"The original viewers will steadily lose interest, and the fevor in which they cared for their favorite characters will decrease, including me. Everyone moves on- that's a cardinal fact.''

This only highlights the general frustration of fans after waiting for almost three years for a new season. In addition, with a plethora of good shows on Netflix like Stranger Things and Squid Game, people will likely forget about the second season.

In addition, since All of Us Are Dead Season 2 will likely pick up from the events of the first season, the cast will still be in high school. Another obstacle for the makers might be the cast's appearance, as they will naturally look different and older than the previous season.

While I loved the show when it came back in 2022, the wait has been frustrating, and people have started to forget the storyline, which is never good for a show. In addition, it was also reported that Season 2 will not follow the webtoon entirely and will also focus on an original storyline, which is another challenge for the show.

Even considering the show's quality, four years is a long waiting period between seasons and is definitely not suitable for today's fast viewing.

Another horror apocalyptic show, Sweet Home, debuted with Season 1 in 2020 and was highly successful. It returned with second and third (final) seasons in 2023 and 2024, respectively, while maintaining the quality.

Considering this timeline, it is unusual for a show to take such a prolonged hiatus, and All of Us Are Dead Season 2 might be seriously affected in ratings if it does not return soon.
