After Vincenzo, I am really looking forward to Netflix's upcoming revenge K-drama (which also involves gang wars)

I think Song Joong-ki's revenge K-drama Vincenzo is the perfect watch on Netflix for anybody who wants to experience a classic Korean thriller. It has all the elements of a perfect revenge tale.

And as much as I like it, there is no news about the K-drama being renewed for Season 2. While a second season seems unlikely, I think Netflix's upcoming revenge K-drama Mercy for None might be as dark as Vincenzo in its themes.

Starring So Ji-sub in the lead role, Mercy for None follows Nam Ki-jun, who returns to Seoul's underworld scene to avenge his brother's murder. While Ki-jun's younger brother joined a rival gang eleven years ago, he is here to avenge his death and serve rightful justice to his killers.

More on this in our story.

I think Netflix's Mercy for None's revenge story will be as brutal as Vincenzo

Song Joong-ki's Vincenzo became the breakthrough K-drama on its debut, and fans are still waiting for news on Season 2. While the K-drama might not likely return for another season, the platform is gearing up for another show with a revenge plotline.

Vincenzo Cassano's ruthlessness was one of the main highlights of the show, and the recently released posters and trailer for Mercy for None suggest the battle will be even bloodier and brutal in this show. While the K-drama still had some comedic elements, I think this upcoming K-drama will be highly intense.

The trailer for Mercy for None sets the stage for Nam Ki-jun's revenge, who is seen attending his brother's funeral. When his younger brother Nam Ki-seok joined the rival gangs in the underworld, Ki-jun severed his Achilles heel and left the criminal world for good.

However, after his brother is ambushed and killed, just months before his retirement, Ki-jun is reeled back into the dangerous world, filled with threats.

Mercy for None: A gritty tale of gang wars

In addition to a revenge K-drama, I think Mercy for None also has a similar protagonist to Vincenzo. The consigliere's mode of revenge is unforgettable, and his punishment for the villains still gives me nightmares. Equipped with his signature lighter, the Cassano boss believed in burning villains to the ground.

Similarly, Ki-jun's signature weapon seems to be a baseball bat. Mercy for None posters reveal Ki-jun all bloodied and in a dark alley with a baseball bat, waiting to avenge his brother's killers.

Just like Vincenzo returned to his South Korean roots with a personal vendetta, Ki-jun also returns to the underworld, but for personal reasons. Since he stepped away from this criminal world for his brother, it would be interesting to see how things will shake up after his return.

Fueled by anger and revenge, Mercy for None looks like a gritty tale with all the elements of a Korean thriller.

Ki-jun's bloodied face, clenched fists, and the determined look on his face all hint that this upcoming revenge K-drama will be a bloody battle between different gangs, and I am up for it.

In one of the scenes from the trailer, Ki-jun chokes his enemy till he dies, and in the other, he is seen leaving a dark alley with multiple dead enemies behind him. The dark and intense tone of the visuals suggests that the K-drama will be merciless and savage, and Ki-jun will not stop until justice is served.

Mercy for None debuts on Netflix on June 6, 2025.
