Arisu and Usagi returned for their adventure against the Joker card in Netflix's Alice in Borderland Season 3. The critically acclaimed Japanese dystopian series is based on Haro Aso's eponymous manga and follows an original narrative in the latest season. In the Alice in Borderland Season 2 finale, Arisu, Usagi, and a majority of the Borderland players chose to return to their real world, following which they were seen recovering from a cardiac arrest in a hospital after the mysterious meteor shower in Tokyo.
The third season begins after a five-year time jump, where the characters have no memories of their time in the Borderland. However, many Tokyo residents seem to be having similar dreams about the afterlife and the deadly games from Season 2. These dreams were being monitored by Ryuji Matsyuma, an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry, who is obsessed with the afterlife and the concept of death in Alice in Borderland Season 3
Ryuji's fascination with the Borderland is cunningly recognized by Banda (the serial killer who decided to stay in the Season 2 finale), who used him to lure Arisu and Usagi back in Alice in Borderland Season 3.
More on this in our story.
A threatening deal lured Usagi back in Alice in Borderland Season 3
Since Season 1, Usagi has been trying to come to terms with her father's suicide. She even decided to give up her survival quest and remain in the Borderland for good, but Arisu helped her, and they both chose to return to their real world in the Season 2 finale.
However, Ryuji's addition in Alice in Borderland Season 3 proved dangerous for Usagi and Arisu as the former was lured back into the Netherworld. Ryuji's curiosity and fascination with the afterlife became more intense after his student's death. He was determined to find answers about the Borderland, and Banda used this curiosity to lure Arisu back to his world. While Banda had chosen the parallel world in the Season 2 finale, he had grown dissatisfied and bored, and wanted to make it interesting again by bringing Arisu back. He believed that Arisu's addition as a player in the deadly games would make his world interesting again.
Thus, he recognized Ryuji's curiosity and proposed a deal to him in Alice in Borderland Season 3. He promised to answer Ryuji's questions about the afterlife and give him a peek into the liminal world if he brings Usagi with him. Moreover, Banda also asked Ryuji to use Usagi's father's death to trigger her memories and bring her back to the Netherworld. Thus, Ryuji made Usagi believe that the Borderland contains solutions and answers about her father's su*c*de, and she was tempted to go back.

How did Arisu follow Usagi's suit in Alice in Borderland Season 3?
In Alice in Borderland Season 3, Arisu was working as a counselor for people struggling with Tokyo's meteor shower. This is how Anne found him and claimed that they had played the deadly games before. While Arisu had not restored his memories yet, Anne revealed that she had found a dr*g that could send anyone to the parallel world for two minutes. Arisu did not believe her initially, but after Usagi's kidnapping and eventual comatose state in the hospital, he was visited by Banda himself, who tempted him to follow him in Borderland.
This is how Arisu believed in the Borderland again and decided to follow Usagi. He asked Anne to inject him with the said dr*g, which affected his temporal lobe and stopped his heart, granting him two minutes to go to the Netherworld and save Usagi. Since the concept of time worked differently in the real world and the Borderland, Arisu spent weeks and months in the liminal space trying to save Usagi, when only two minutes passed in the real world.
