The new FX series, Alien: Earth, took no time in becoming one of the most popular sci-fi TV series, bringing back the horrors of Xenomorphs and other extraterrestrial creatures to Earth in 2120. Coming from the hit Alien franchise, the show focuses on five tech companies that dominate the world.
Viewers are introduced to three major and advanced forms of humanity: cyborgs, synthetics, and hybrids. They co-exist in this timeline, and Alien: Earth shows how it happens and the impact of such a huge invention.
The show came out on August 12, 2025, on FX and Hulu and has now completed seven out of eight episodes. The story centers on a deep-space research vessel, the USCSS Maginot, owned by Weyland-Yutani.
It crashes in Prodigy territory, a tech rival owned by Boy Kavalier, whilst carrying five specimens of Alien life. The main alien is a classic Xenomorph, and four all-new aliens. This kicks off the dangers and intrigue of the show.
Recently, Episode 7 was released, and fans couldn't believe the shocking chestburster death scene. Following this big event, Alien: Earth director Dana Gonzales and stars David Rysdahl (Arthur) and Adarsh Gourav (Slightly) recently discussed the episode.

What did Alien: Earth director and stars say about the death scene in episode 7?

While talking about the recent episode, creator Dana Gonzales explained that the chestbuster death scene was designed to become impactful and memorable, not just for long-time Alien fans but also for viewers experiencing the franchise for the first time.
Gonzales said:
"...the chestburster scene was super important to me, and to everybody. Those are the iconic moments that I talk about a lot in interviews...."
Gonzales also mentioned that the team used practical effects and animatronics for this episode and even shot on a real beach. This ensured that the moment looked as realistic as possible, leaving a mark on viewers.
David Rysdahl discussed how he approached the character of Arthur, who balances morality in science. The actor mentioned that this emotional arc made the character's death heavier for the audience because they see Arthur both as a scientist and a father figure to the children.
He said:
"I wanted that subconscious emotional side to be rising throughout the [show] and to overtake his conscious ethics."
Rysdahl continued:
"The stories he's been telling himself consciously about a scientist, they break down, but I feel like what comes at the end later in the season, he's full father."
Not only this, the actor also discussed the challenges during filming as they used practical effects, animatronic doubles, and blood effects. Rysdahl's co-star Adarsh Gourav also joined the interview and spoke about Slightly’s perspective, highlighting the moral and emotional struggle of lying to Arthur while trying to save him.
