NBC locks all One Chicago leads to return for next season
NBC confirmed the renewal of One Chicago franchise in May, with Chicago Med returning for Season 11, Chicago Fire for Season 14 and Chicago P.D. for Season 13.
However, while all three shows were confirmed for their respective new seasons, it was reported that many cast members might not return due to budget issues across the franchise. While all three procedurals have seen considerable changes in their respective casts throughout the seasons, fans look forward to seeing familiar faces each season.
However, it is now confirmed that fans will get to see their favorite cast members in the new seasons, which include Kelly Severide, Stella Kidd and Dom Pascal in Chicago Fire, St. Hank Voight in Chicago P.D. and Sharon Goodwin and Dr. Charles in Chicago Med.
It was reported that negotiations were underway with Kinney, Mayo and Mulroney to return for Chicago Fire Season 14 and now the trio has secured new deals with the network and will continue to be part of the firefighter procedural.
Mulroney's return was especially uncertain as Dom Pascal was asked to step down from his position in the Fire Season 13 finale but he will continue to be a part of One Chicago.
It was also reported that Merkerson and Platt secured multi-year contracts with NBC for Chicago Med, securing their future in the franchise. Goodwin and Dr. Charles have been key characters in the medical procedural since its premiere and are fan favorites.
Talking about Beghe, his Chicago P.D. contract also has more time, which will ensure Voight's continuity in One Chicago franchise.
Season 12 was especially challenging for the character because of his rivalry with Chief Reid. However, the Season 12 finale took a surprising turn, with Voight serving Reid on a platter, leading to the latter's death.
This confirms that fan-favorite characters will continue their run in One Chicago, but due to budget cuts, fans might not be able to see all the cast together in every episode. All three procedurals will return for 21 episodes.
