Task Episode 6 came as a shocker to fans as the creators decided to kill off not just one but two main characters. In the penultimate installment of the HBO crime drama, both Robbie and Lizzie met with their tragic ends.
Lizzie, played by Alison Oliver, became collateral damage in the whole Dark Hearts vs. FBI situation as she got run over by Perry and Jayson. The poor PSP trooper was deafened by a bullet fired by the mole Grasso, and hence could not hear the truck racing towards her.
Fabien Frankel, who plays Grasso in Task, has now opened up about the impact of Lizzie’s death on his character. The actor said that despite being a mole, he had a genuine connection with Lizzie and certainly did not want her to die. Frankel said in an interview with Variety:
“He always has had a tinge of regret about getting involved with the Dark Hearts….. Lizzie’s death is ultimately the overshadowing moment where all his worst nightmares are realized.”
Fabien Frankel talks about Grasso’s bond with Lizzie in Task
Following Lizzie’s death in Task Episode 6, Grasso is visibly upset, and he mourns the loss of his friend. While the high-stakes mission still goes on and everybody asks Grasso to move beyond the tragedy, he is not able to do so and keeps reflecting on the special moments he spent with Lizzie. Talking about Grasso’s bond with Lizzie, Fabien Frankel said:
“He’s already developed a huge bond with her. It’s funny, because I was getting asked in press if Lizzie is a part of his plan of if he was using her all along, which is what I didn’t believe. I know that when Brad [Ingelsby] was writing the show, he didn’t think that was the case. These are two people who genuinely really get along and develop a real friendship.”
Frankel further highlighted that Grasso did have feelings for Lizzie, but he did not properly act upon them due to his religious beliefs. Revealing how his character genuinely cared for Lizzie, Frankel said:
“He never ends up sleeping with her due to the fact that he’s afraid of the marriage bed and that he doesn’t want to do more wrong in the eyes of his Catholicism and his relationship with her, per his relationship with the Dark Hearts. He just genuinely cares about her.”
In Task Episode 6, Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a river, Grasso fires a shot near Lizzie’s ear, which ends up deafening her. She then walks on a bridge and tries to call her team, but Jayson and Perry run her down with their truck. Hence, the PSP trooper dies in an accident.
Meanwhile, Grasso was initially shown as a loyal member of the Task Force. In Episode 5, it was revealed that he is an informant who is working as a double agent for the Dark Hearts. The show will now air its final episode on October 19, 2025, which will conclude the storyline.
