About HBO’s The Yogurt Shop Murders

The Yogurt Shop Murders is an HBO original documentary series that follows the events of the murders of four young girls at a frozen yogurt shop in North Austin, Texas. On December 6, 1991, the bodies of four teenagers: Jennifer Harbison, 17, her sister Sarah Harbison, 15, Eliza Thomas, 17, and Amy Ayers, 13, were found bound, shot, and burned. Jennifer and Eliza worked at the 'I Can't Believe it's Yogurt' shop.

The police initially believed that the attackers could have come to the yogurt shop to rob it. Four men were arrested for the murders but were later released due to insufficient evidence. Two of the men served for over nine years. Though the charges were dropped, many still believe that they are guilty of the crime.

The close-knit community of Austin was left stunned by the brutal murder case. The series will also feature archival footage from the news coverage and interrogations that took place during the investigation. From dodgy DNA evidence, media scrutiny, forceful confessions to grieving families, the documentary will take an in-depth look at how the case became one of the more controversial cold cases in the country.

Watch The Yogurt Shop Murders on HBO on Sunday, August 3, 2025. The series will also be available on the streaming platform HBO Max. The episodes for the four-part documentary will be released weekly.
